Overview:

-- Overview: GB 4943.1-2022 "Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment - Part 1: Safety requirements" is a Chinese national standard issued in July 2022. It is mandatorily enforced for new products, from August 2023, for the safety of audio/video, information and communication technology equipment. It collectively replaces the previous standards GB 8898-2011 and GB 4943.1-2011. This standard is technically similar to IEC 62368-1:2018. -- Product continuity and transition: If a product was type-approved under GB 8898-2011 and/or GB 4943.1-2011, before July 2022, then, such products are still allowed to continue to market, manufacture and sales after August 2023 until end of life (so called "continuity"). However, after August 2022, if there is "technically-significant" change of the previously type-approved product, then, such change / product shall be subjected to re-type approval/certification (GB 4943.1-2022). -- Objective This standard specifies the product safety that classifies energy sources, prescribes safeguards against those energy sources, and provides guidance on the application of, and requirements for, those safeguards. -- General safety requirements: It includes safety requirements such as materials and components, safeguards, explosion, fire, and overcurrent protection. -- Other safety requirements: It includes safety requirements such as electrically-caused injury or fire, hazardous substances, mechanically-caused injury, thermal burn injury, and radiation. -- Full copy of English version of GB 4943.1-2022: It has been translated by www.ChineseStandard.net and the PDF will be auto-delivered/downloaded in 9 seconds (Click "Add to Cart" as above). This document modifies and adopts IEC 62368-1.2018 "Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment - Part 1.Safety requirements". Compared with IEC 62368-1.2018, this document has technical differences, which are marked with a vertical single line (|) in the outer margin of the clauses involved. These technical differences and their reasons are as follows. a) Scope of application IEC 62368-1.2018 applies to equipment intended to be used at an altitude of 2000 m and below. Due to the particularity of China's geographical conditions and the distribution characteristics of ethnic minority populations, after the revision of some clauses of IEC 62368-1.2018, this document is applicable to equipment Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment - Part 1.Safety requirements
