Foreword
This standard replaces GB 4804-1984 “Hygienic standard for enamel as food
containers”.
As compared with GB 4804-1984, the main changes of this standard are as
follows.
- CHANGE the standard name into “National food safety standard -
Enamelware”;
- ADD the terms and definitions;
- MODIFY the physical and chemical indicators;
- ADD the migration test requirements;
- ADD the label identification requirements.
National Food Safety Standard -- Enamelware
1 Scope
This standard applies to the food contact enamelware.
2 Terms and definitions
2.1 Flat ware
It refers to the enamelware for which the depth from the ware mouth along the
horizontal plane to its internal lowest horizontal plane is less than or equal to
25 mm.
2.2 Hollow ware
It refers to the enamelware for which the depth from the ware mouth along the
horizontal plane to its internal lowest horizontal plane is more than 25 mm.
3 Basic requirements
The foot contact enamelware shall be in accordance with the provisions of GB
4806.1.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Sensory requirements
Enamelware shall be smooth in surface, uniform in enameling, AND free from
cracks, gaps, fish scales burst, de-enameling, burst point, fracture, pan boiling
marks, blisters, and base exposure.
5 Others
5.1 Migration test
5.1.1 Basic requirements
The migration test shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of GB
31604.1 and GB 5009.156, except as expressly provided in 5.1.2 and 5.1.3 of
this standard.
5.1.3 Migration test conditions (time and temperature)
The migration test time and temperature shall only adopt those as listed in the
Table 2.
