1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, raw material requirements, product
classification, requirements and test methods, inspection rules, as well as packaging,
marking, transportation and storage of civil briquettes.
This standard applies to all aspects of production, processing, storage, transportation,
sales and use of civil briquettes.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 483, GB/T 31356, MT/T 748 and the
following apply to this document. For ease of use, some terms and definitions in GB/T
483-2007, GB/T 31356-2014, and MT/T 748-2007 are repeated below.
3.1 commercial coal
Coal products that are sold after processing raw coal. They can be divided into
categories such as steam coal, metallurgical coal, and chemical coal.

3.2 steam coal
Coal products whose calorific value is utilized through combustion are collectively
referred to as steam coal. Steam coal can be categorized by use as coal for power
generation, coal for industrial boilers and kilns, and other coal products used for
combustion.

3.3 civil coal
The steam coal that is used for decentralized cooking and heating by residents. It can
be divided into two categories. civil bulk coal and civil briquette.
3.4 civil bulk coal
Unprocessed and unformed civilian coal.
3.5 civil briquette
The civil coal that is shaped by appropriate technology and equipment, including
honeycomb briquette and other briquettes.
3.6 cold compressive strength
The crack resistance strength of briquettes when they are subjected to a unidirectional
force at a specified uniform displacement speed on a pressure testing machine at
ambient temperature until cracking occurs is called cold compressive strength.

3.7 shatter strength
A measure of resistance to crushing. It is expressed as the percentage of the mass of
briquette pieces larger than 13 mm to the mass of the original test briquette after a
certain amount of briquette sample is dropped freely from a certain height according to
specified conditions and methods.
3.8 undersize fraction
The mass fraction of the product above the sieve that is smaller than the specified lower
limit of particle size.

4 Raw material requirements
The raw materials for civil briquettes are anthracite, bituminous coal, and other coal
products, such as semi-coke. Low-quality and inferior coal, such as lignite, middling,
and coal slime, is prohibited from being used as raw materials for civil coal.
5 Product categories
Civil briquette includes honeycomb briquette and other briquette. Honeycomb briquette
is divided into two categories based on its quality indexes. honeycomb briquette No. 1
and honeycomb briquette No. 2; other briquette is divided into two categories based on
their quality indexes. briquette No. 1 and briquette No. 2.
6 Requirements and test methods
6.1 Various auxiliary materials and additives used in the processing of honeycomb
briquette and other briquettes shall be non-toxic, harmless and odorless, and shall not
cause secondary pollution during the use of briquettes.
6.2 The technical requirements and test methods for honeycomb briquettes are shown
in Table 1.
