Identification for passenger cars and their parts
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the requirements for marking identification on the main
parts of passenger cars.
This Standard is applicable to M1 vehicles.
The identification of other vehicle parts (or assemblies) can refer to use.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of
this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any
amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 interior surface
as far as vehicle parts are concerned, the surface that is not directly exposed
to sunlight and rain

The identification information for the identification for passenger cars and their
parts shall be either a) or b).
a) vehicle identification number (VIN) in accordance with GB 16735-2004;
b) part (or assembly) number, which shall be traceable, unique, and
corresponds to the VIN of the vehicle on which the part (or assembly) is
directly engraved.
a) When the identification for passenger cars and their parts is marked with
labels, the following requirements shall be satisfied.
1) The label shall meet the requirements of 4.3.1 and 4.3.2 of GB/T 25978-
2010.
2) The identification for passenger cars and their parts shall be placed on
each part specified in 5.1 and 5.3. If feasible, the identification for
passenger cars and their parts shall be on the inner surface of the part,
and this position shall meet the following requirements.
- it shall not be damaged by the use of any tools to install, adjust or
remove the part and its adjacent parts or any part thereof;
- it is in a part of parts that are unlikely to be damaged in a collision;
- it shall not be damaged or blurred in normal sales preparation
(including rust prevention and primer).
3) The identification for passenger cars and their parts shall be placed on
each part specified in 5.1 and 5.3. The marking location shall be visible
or after the part has been removed from the car and can be seen
without further disassembly.
4) The identification for passenger cars and their parts shall be placed in
the target area specified in 6.3.
5) When the identification for passenger cars and their parts is only
marked by human readable codes, the height of the human-readable
code words shall not be less than 4mm. When the identification for
passenger cars and their parts is marked in the form of a combination
of human readable code and machine readable code, the height of the
human readable code word shall not be less than 2.38 mm.
b) When the identification for passenger cars and their parts is marked by
direct engraving, the following requirements shall be met.
1) Eliminating or altering any part of the identification for passenger cars
and their parts shall visibly change the appearance of the part that
identifies the identification for passenger cars and their parts.
2) The identification for passenger cars and their parts shall be placed on
each part specified in 5.1 and 5.3. The marking location shall be visible
or after the part has been removed from the car and can be seen
without further disassembly.
