General safety technique requirements of gas burning
appliances
1 Scope
This document stipulates the basic safety technical content such as the requirements for
gas burning appliances (hereinafter referred to as "burning appliances") and their
accessories when they are put on the market and freely circulated.
This document applies to household and commercial burning appliances and
accessories that use town gas as fuel.
This document does not apply to burning appliances used on vehicles, ships and other
means of transportation, as well as burning appliances designed for specific uses or
purposes such as industrial production processes or laboratory research.
2 Normative references
This document has no normative references.
3 Terms and definitions
There are no terms and definitions that need to be defined in this document.
4 Putting on the market and free circulation
4.1 Before burning appliances and accessories are put on the market and put into use,
necessary measures shall be taken to ensure that they will not endanger personal health
and property safety during normal use.
NOTE: The "normal use" of the burning appliance in this document means that the burning appliance is
under the following conditions of use:
a) It is installed correctly according to the installation instructions and maintained regularly and
correctly;
b) It is used within the range of gas quality changes and gas supply pressure fluctuations that
meet standard requirements;
c) Within the service life of the burning appliance, the burning appliance is used correctly
according to its intended purpose or can reasonably be used correctly in the expected manner.
4.2 The special standards for burning appliances and accessories shall include the
requirements specified in Chapter 5, and a corresponding table of clauses that comply
with the requirements of Chapter 5 shall be listed.
4.3 Burning appliances and accessories put on the market and freely circulated shall
comply with the requirements of Chapter 5.
4.4 Burning appliances and accessories can only be put on the market and freely
circulated after being inspected and proven to comply with the declared product
standards.
4.5 When a burning appliance is in normal use and is proven to have a defect that
endangers personal health or property safety, products with similar defects shall be
restricted or prohibited from continuing to be put on the market and circulated.
5 Requirements
5.1 General conditions
5.1.1 Operational safety and use of accessories
The design and manufacture of burning appliances shall ensure safe operation during
normal use and shall not endanger personal health and property safety. Accessories shall
be designed and manufactured to facilitate assembly or assembly into burning
appliances and to correctly achieve their intended use.
5.1.2 Instructions1)
5.1.2.1 When a burning appliance is put on the market, it shall be accompanied by
instructions with relevant instructions written in standardized Chinese characters for
installation, use, and maintenance.
5.1.2.2 The installation instructions shall include detailed instructions required for
installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operational safety. The installation
instructions shall at least contain the following contents:
a) applicable gas type;
b) applicable rated gas pressure;
1) If other mandatory national standards have specific provisions on the instructions and markings of burning
appliances, those provisions shall prevail.
explosion caused by external fire.
5.3.1.6 The design and manufacturing of burning appliances shall ensure that water and
air do not enter the gas pipeline during normal use.
5.3.1.7 When the auxiliary energy fluctuates normally, the burning appliance shall
operate safely.
5.3.1.8 When the auxiliary energy fluctuates abnormally, or the energy supply is
interrupted or resumes, the burning appliance shall be in a safe state.
5.3.1.9 The electrical design of burning appliances shall comply with relevant safety
requirements to avoid electrical accidents and gas-related risks caused by electrical
accidents.
5.3.1.10 All pressure-bearing parts of burning appliances shall be able to withstand
mechanical stress and thermal stress, and shall not cause deformation that affects safety
within their service life.
5.3.1.11 Burning appliances shall ensure that failure of safety, control, or regulating
devices will not lead to unsafe conditions.
5.3.1.12 When a burning appliance is equipped with a safety device and a control device,
it shall be ensured that the function of the control device does not affect the normal
function of the safety device.
5.3.1.13 Protective measures or warnings shall be taken for parts of burning appliances
that users and installers are not allowed to operate.
5.3.1.14 The regulating device that can be operated by the user shall be designed to
prevent mis-operation, and shall have obvious marks and instructions, and the
movements of each component shall be accurate, flexible, safe, and reliable.
5.3.1.15 The connection between the gas inlet of a burning appliance and the gas
pipeline shall be threaded or other connection types with an anti-separation structure.
5.3.1.16 For burning appliances with risks of electromagnetic influence,
electromagnetic compatibility risks related to gas safety shall be eliminated.
5.3.2 Emissions of unburned gas
5.3.2.1 The design and manufacturing of burning appliances shall ensure that the gas
leakage rate does not cause danger.
5.3.2.2 The control procedures and structural design of burning appliances shall ensure
that gas leakage is limited during operation to avoid danger caused by accumulation of
unburned gas in burning appliances.
