1 Scope

This section YS/T 820 specifies the method for determination of scandium laterite nickel ore and cadmium content. This section applies to the determination of cadmium content of scandium and nickel laterite ore. Measurement range. 0.0001% to 0.007%.

2 Method summary

Sample with nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid decomposition of perchloric acid was added and evaporated to catch fluorine, in dilute nitric acid medium by ICP-MS using online Join Rhodium internal calibration method for the determination of scandium laterite nickel ore and cadmium content.

3 Reagents and materials

Unless otherwise indicated in the analysis using only recognized as analytical grade reagents and distilled or deionized water or equivalent purity. Nitrate 3.1 (ρ1.42g/mL). 3.2 nitric acid (11). 3.3 hydrochloride (ρ1.19g/mL). 3.4 Hydrofluoric acid (ρ1.15g/mL). 3.5 perchloric acid (ρ1.67g/mL). 3.6 water (resistivity ≥18.2MΩ.cm). 3.7 scandium standard stock solution. Weigh 1.5337g scandium oxide (wSc2O3≥99.9%) placed in 150mL beaker, add 50mL of nitric acid (3.2), dissolved by heating, cooling, transferred to 1000mL volumetric flask, dilute with water to volume, and mix. This solution 1mL 1mg containing scandium. 3.8 cadmium standard stock solution. Weigh 1.0000g cadmium (wCd≥99.99%), placed in 150mL beaker, add 50mL of nitric acid (3.2), dissolved by heating, cooling, transferred to 1000mL volumetric flask, dilute with water to volume, and mix. This solution 1mL 1mg containing cadmium. 3.9 mixed standard solution. Pipette 1.00mL scandium are standard stock solution (3.7) and cadmium standard stock solution (3.8) in 100mL Capacity Flask, 2mL nitric acid (3.1), dilute to the mark and mix. This solution 1mL containing scandium and cadmium each 10μg. 3.10 Internal standard solution. Rh standard solution (10ng/mL), nitric acid medium (198). 3.11 argon [wAr≥99.996%].
