Introduction

JJF1002-2010 "Rules for the Preparation of National Metrology Verification Procedures", JJF1001-2011 "General Metrology Terms and Definition” and JJF1059.1-2012 “Evaluation and Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement” together constitute the basis for the revision of this regulation. A series of basic specifications. This regulation is a revision of JJG 959-2001 "Optical Time Domain Reflectometer" which was first issued on May 1,.2001. Compared with JJG 959-2001, the main technical changes are as follows. ---The scope of application covers single-mode and multi-mode optical time domain reflectometers; ---The central wavelength verification project has been expanded to include 850nm, 1300nm, 1490nm, 1625nm and other communication wavelengths Long window; --- Deleted the distance scale coefficient verification item; ---Change the position deviation and distance characteristic verification items to distance deviation verification items. The verification methods are divided into Two types. standard fiber method (passive method) and time synthesis method (active method); --- Deleted the loss scale coefficient and loss characteristic verification items, and changed them to loss deviation verification items. There are two methods. standard fiber method (passive method) and time synthesis method (active method); --- Increased measurement range verification items; ---Added optical return loss deviation test item. The previous versions of this regulation are as follows. JJG 959-2001. Verification procedures for optical time domain reflectometer

1 Scope

This procedure applies to the initial and subsequent verification of single-mode and multimode optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR).

2 References

This specification has no referenced documents.

3 Terminology and units of measurement

3.1 Central wavelength For a continuous spectrum, the central wavelength is defined as λc=∫Pλdλ ∫Pλdλ (1) Where. λ --- wavelength; Pλ ---power spectral density of the light source. For the separated spectrum, the central wavelength is defined as λc= Piλi Pi (2) In the formula λi --- wavelength; Pi---The power of the laser mode with wavelength λi. 3.2 Reference distance The distance from the output end face of the OTDR light source to the optical fiber is determined by a measurement standard or measuring instrument with higher accuracy than the OTDR. The distance between two feature points is represented by Lref and its unit is m. 3.3 Distance Deviation ΔL=Lotdr-Lref (3) Where. Lotdr---The displayed value of the reference distance measured by OTDR. 3.4 Reference loss The loss of a section of optical fiber is accurately calibrated by a method that does not directly use the OTDR power scale, and is represented by Aref. The unit is dB.
