Summary: This standard specifies the monopolar and bipolar AC contactor universal basic rules and requirements, including terms and definitions, symbols, classification, characteristics, product information, under normal use, installation and transportation conditions, structure and performance requirements, tests, etc.. This standard applies to both unipolar and bipolar AC contactor. Contactor is mainly used in AC 50Hz (or 60Hz), its main contacts rated voltage not exceeding 220V, in AC-8a or AC-8b category of rated working voltage of 220V, rated operating current not exceeding 63A circuit, for remote making and breaking single-phase power circuit. This standard specifies the contactor is generally not used for short-circuit breaking current, and therefore, should be used to install the appropriate short-circuit protection.
