1 Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, methods and calculations for energy consumption testing of low temperature multi-effect distillation and reverse osmosis desalination plants. This standard applies to the energy consumption test of low-temperature multi-effect distillation and reverse osmosis seawater desalination unit, and energy consumption of other types of seawater desalination units. The test can be used as reference.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Seawater desalination plant seawaterdesalinationplant The general term for the system that constitutes the entire desalination production process and equipment unit. Note. The desalination plant includes a host system for the completion of seawater desalination to produce fresh water, as well as seawater abstraction, pretreatment, product water aftertreatment, and product water transport (to Auxiliary systems such as desalination pools or tanks, instruments and controls, excluding ancillary systems such as lighting, overhaul, HVAC and fire protection. 3.2 Low temperature multi-effect distillation host mainunitoflowtemperaturemulti-effectdistilation System for desalination of freshwater from seawater consisting of evaporator, condenser, vacuuming equipment, water pump, instrument, rack and pipe valve parts device. 3.3 Reverse osmosis host mainunitofreverseosmosisdesalination A system for desalination of freshwater from seawater consisting of a reverse osmosis membrane module, a water pump, an energy recovery device, a meter, a frame, and a tube valve member. Equipment. 3.4 Energy consumption The energy consumed in the production of desalination plants. Note 1. For desalination plants using cryogenic multi-effect distillation technology, energy consumption includes electricity and steam. Note 2. For desalination plants using reverse osmosis technology, the energy consumption is only electricity. 3.5 Unit time mainframe power consumption The amount of electricity consumed by the low-temperature multi-effect distillation main unit or the reverse osmosis main unit to produce water per unit time.
