1 Scope

This standard specifies the atomic fluorescence determination method for cadmium in seawater. This standard is applicable to the determination of the soluble cadmium content in the discharge water produced by ocean, nearshore, estuarine seawater and seawater utilization. The detection limit of cadmium is 0.012μg/L, and the detection limit is 0.040μg/L.

3 Principle

Under acidic conditions, the cadmium in the water sample reacts with potassium borohydride to generate volatile cadmium, which is carried into the quartz atomizer by the carrier gas. The cadmium hollow cathode lamp produces atomic fluorescence under the excitation, and its fluorescence intensity is proportional to the concentration of cadmium in the measured solution within a certain range, and The standard series are relatively quantitative.

4 Reagents and materials

In the analysis method, except for special regulations, all superior grade pure reagents and secondary water complying with GB/T 6682 are used. 4.1 Nitric acid (HNO3). ρ=1.42g/mL. 4.2 Nitric acid solution (1 1). 1 volume of nitric acid (4.1) is mixed with 1 volume of water. 4.3 Nitric acid solution (1 99). 1 volume of nitric acid (4.1) is mixed with 99 volumes of water. 4.4 Hydrochloric acid (HCl). ρ=1.19g/mL. 4.5 Cobalt solution (0.10mg/mL-Co). Weigh 1.25g potassium hydroxide (KOH) and dissolve it in a small amount of water, add potassium borohydride (KBH4) 10.0 g, dilute with water to 250mL, shake well, prepare before use. 4.9 Carrier. Pipette 7.6mL hydrochloric acid (4.4) into a small amount of water, add 10mL cobalt solution (4.5), dilute with water to 500mL, shake well for use. 4.10 Cadmium standard stock solution (1.00g/L-Cd). Weigh 0.5000g of metallic cadmium (purity 99.99%) and heat it with 5mL nitric acid solution (4.2) Dissolve, transfer to a 500mL volumetric flask after cooling, dilute to the mark with nitric acid solution (4.3), shake well.
