1 Scope

ISO 4306 defines the vocabulary of the most commonly used terms in the crane sector. This document defines a common definition of tower cranes and illustrates each type of tower crane using example figures with reference numbers. A term used in heavy machinery. 3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Tower CraneTower Crane A power-driven slewing jib crane with the jib located at the top of a tower which remains substantially vertical in the working position. Note. Tower cranes are equipped with devices for lifting and lowering suspended loads and moving the load by luffing, slewing or traveling as a whole. Some tower cranes only partially realize Actions instead of all actions. 3.1.1 Assembled tower craneTower crane erected from parts Tower cranes (3.1) that are transported to the site in parts and erected using separate lifting equipment.
