1 Scope

This document provides a guide for vessels of 5,000 gross tonnage (GT) and above that complies with the requirements of Regulation 22A of Annex VI to the MARPOL Convention. This document specifies a practical method for measuring fuel consumption, distance travelled and time travelled. Appendix A provides An example of a data collection programme for ship fuel consumption is provided.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Data to be collected and reported annually in accordance with the requirements of Annex IX to Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention. 3.2 Emission Ships discharge substances regulated by Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention into the atmosphere or the ocean. 3.3 fuel oil Fuel delivered or intended for combustion for the propulsion or operation of a ship, including distillates and residual oils. 3.4 Conversion factor Dimensionless coefficient between fuel oil (3.3) consumption and CO2 emissions (3.2).
