1 Scope

This part of GB/T 33779 specifies the benchmark test method (RTM) and alternative test methods for the effective area (Aeff) of single-mode fiber. The test equipment, samples and sample preparation, test procedures, calculation methods and results are determined. This section applies to the Class B single-mode fiber specified in GB/T 9771 (all parts).

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Effectivearea Aeff A parameter closely related to fiber nonlinearity, which will affect the transmission quality of fiber optic systems, especially in long-distance optical amplification systems The transmission quality, the effective area Aeff can be defined by equation (1).
