Introduction

Wheelchair Seats is a standard that ensures the performance and quality of wheelchair seats and accurately provides these performance and quality to stakeholders. The users of chairs and vehicles want to know the performance and quality of the products, the manufacturers want to know how to achieve better quality, and the inspection agencies want to know how to achieve better quality. Know how to inspect the product. Because the Wheelchair Seat is too long, and the parties using the document generally only need part of it. The content is too complex and the updates of each part will not be synchronized, so it is compiled in parts and is intended to consist of the following parts. --- Part 1.Vocabulary, reference axis rules and measurement of body parts, body positions and body support surfaces; --- Part 2.Determination of the physical and mechanical properties of devices for maintaining tissue integrity; --- Part 3.Determination of static, impact and fatigue strength of body support devices; --- Part 4.Seat systems for use in motor vehicles; --- Part 6.Simulated use and determination of changes in seat cushion performance; --- Part 9.Guidelines for seat interface pressure distribution; --- Part 10.Flame retardancy requirements and test methods for body support devices; --- Part 11.Determination of perspiration dissipation characteristics of seat cushions; --- Part 12.Testing the wrapping and sinking characteristics of seat cushions using a double hemisphere loader; --- Part 13.Determination of lateral stability of seat cushions; --- Part 14.Concepts related to the control of external forces to maintain tissue integrity; --- Part 15.Selection, placement and fixing of flexible body support devices in seats. Part 1 and Part 14 are definitions of terms, Part 2, Part 3, Part 10 and Part 12 are wheelchair seat cushions. Part 6, Part 11 and Part 13 are mainly about the test methods for seat performance, and Part 4 is about special Intended use requirements, Part 9 provides assessment information, and Part 15 is about flexible body support devices. The seat cushion serves as a support base for wheelchair occupants and affects posture stability by resisting the moment when the occupant's center of gravity moves. There is limited research on the effects of seat cushion design and configuration on pelvic orientation and measures of postural stability. Test methods are used to characterize the tissue integrity management properties of wheelchair cushions, such as immersion, wrapping, hysteresis, impact damping, recovery, and level Stiffness, etc. This document provides details of the test apparatus and a method for measuring the ability of a seat cushion to resist movements that would cause the pelvis to tilt. The change in pelvic tilt caused by the shift in the center of gravity of the human body can affect its stability and mobility, depending on the response of the seat cushion, the occupant's Core muscle strength, etc. The torque in the test method is achieved by moving a horizontal displacement of the upper surface of the standard hard seat cushion loading body (RCLI) The purpose of the test method described in this document is to differentiate between seat cushions with respect to lateral stability. It is not suitable for grading seat cushions or directly matching the characteristics to the requirements of individual occupants. This document will be further developed as evidence of clinical relevance becomes available. Conditions (e.g., RCLI) simulate symmetrical anatomy. The loads used in this document are based on the 40th to 60th percentile of wheelchair occupants. The weight of the sub-position is not used to characterize any cushioning characteristics under heavy load conditions or to evaluate the load-bearing capacity of the cushion. There are other stability issues related to occupants that are not addressed in this document. For example, due to the occupant's thighs, calves and feet The position of the seat cushion will offset any instability in the seat cushion, so the fore-aft stability test is of little significance to the occupant and is not included. The document also does not address aspects of wheelchair sitting stability that are related to the resistance or assistance provided by the seat cushion to the occupant, such as The situation in which an occupant regains a neutral pelvis after a lateral tilt in the frontal plane. In some cases, an occupant will benefit from a raised seat cushion edge. Provide stability (i.e., when the occupant sits on the seat cushion, the reinforced edge may help support the required functional posture). In a lower position, riders may prefer less stability at the edge to help them transfer on the seat cushion. Wheelchair seats. Part 13.Lateral seat cushions Determination of stability

1 Scope

This document specifies equipment, test instruments and methods for determining the lateral stability of a wheelchair seat cushion by measuring the response of the seat cushion to a shift in the centre of gravity of a load placed on the cushion. It provides a method for determining specific physical and mechanical property changes in seat cushions. It is not intended for specific individual users. Provides information on specific cushioning performance. It does not provide information related to fore-aft stability, nor does it provide information on the stability effect with the edge of the seat cushion. Related information. NOTE 1 The test conditions simulate symmetrical anatomical structures. NOTE 2 The loads are intended to represent the loads carried below the pelvis by the 40th to 60th percentile of wheelchair users. This document applies to seat cushions used in situations other than wheelchairs.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in ISO 16840-2.2018 and ISO 7176-26 and the following apply. 3.1 The seat cushion has the ability to prevent the pelvis from tilting in the frontal plane due to the lateral shift of the passenger's center of gravity. 3.2 A device applied to the test seat that can be translated in a horizontal plane during the test so that the center of gravity of the load moves relative to the test seat gross weight. Note. Numbers 4 to 6 in Figure 1 are examples of live loads. 3.3 The total weight of the equipment applied to the test cushion which will not move in the horizontal plane relative to the test cushion during the test
