Foreword

GB/T 18717 Ergonomic Design for the Safety of Machinery is divided into three parts. ---Part 1. Principles for Determining the Dimensions Required for Openings for Whole-body Access into Machinery; ---Part 2. Principles for Determining the Dimensions Required for Openings for Access of Parts of the Body into Machinery; ---Part 3. Anthropometric Data. This Part is the third part of GB/T 18717; it is corresponding to ISO 15534-3. 2000 Ergonomic Design for the Safety of Machinery - Part 3. Anthropometric Data (English version). The degree of consistency between this Part and Part 3 in ISO 15534-3. Ergonomic Design for the Safety of Machinery is non-equivalent. Please see the main differences below. ---The Introduction part in Part 3 in the previous international standard is deleted; ---Three reference standards in Part 3 in the previous international standard are modified into corresponding national standards; ---Data source description in Table 1 and Table 2 in Part 3 in the previous international standard are deleted; ---In Part 3 in the previous international standard, 3 numerical values of 30 items of anthropometric data provided in Table 1 (unit. mm) are decreased. grip reach; forward reach P5 decreases from 615 to 607; forearm reach P5 decreases from 170 to 156; arm reach to the side P5 decreases from 495 to 487. GB/T 5703-1999 Basic Human Body Measurements for Technological Design (eqv ISO 7250) shall prevail in terms of terms in this Part. This Part was proposed by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Mechanical Safety of Standardization Administration of China (CSBTS/TC 208). 1 Scope

This Part specifies anthropometric data (human body measurements, for short) for the calculation of openings. This Part is applicable to the 5th, the 95th and the 99th percentiles of the relevant human body measurements as requested in GB/T 18717.1 and GB/T 18717.2.

3 General Requirements

Anthropometric measurements form the basis, upon which, minimum dimensions of access openings can be calculated. Wherever access openings are required, including passage openings for whole-body access (GB/T 18717.1) and access openings for parts of the body (GB/T 18717.2), data stipulated in this Part shall be applied. ......
