1 Scope

This part of GB/T 15972 specifies the test method for the bandwidth of multimode optical fiber, and establishes the test equipment, injection conditions, procedures, and calculations. Technical requirements for methods and results. This section applies to the measurement of the bandwidth of A1, A3, and A4 multimode optical fibers.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Bandwidth(-3dB) bandwidth(-3dB) The bandwidth value is equal to the minimum modulation frequency when the amplitude of the baseband transfer function of the fiber drops to a specific value. The value is usually half of the amplitude corresponding to zero frequency. Note. The bandwidth value is expressed by f3dB. 3.2 Transfer function The frequency-dependent complex discrete function is used to characterize the frequency domain response of the fiber under test. Note. Method A is to process the time domain data through Fourier transform to determine the frequency response. If you use a type that can measure both phase and amplitude Device, method B can be used to measure the transfer function. When using Fourier transform, method C is similar to method A. The transfer function is represented by H(f).
