Summary: This standard specifies: a) Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) marine radio equipment; b) Chapter �� International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974 Revision of Article 12 requires shipment of electronic navigation equipment and other navigation equipment. Requirements of this standard does not affect the application of new technologies, as long as the functionality provided not less than the standard requirements.
