GB 567.1-2012 Bursting disc safety devices - Part 1.Basic requirement GB 567.4 Bursting disc safety devices - Part 4.Type test3 Terms and definitionsThe terms and definitions defined by GB 567.1 AND the following terms and definitions are applicable for this document. 3.1 Maximum allowable operating pressure The maximum gauge pressure that can be borne by the top of the protected pressure- bearing equipment, at the specified temperature. This pressure is the minimum value that is calculated based on the effective thickness of the pressure-bearing components of the protected pressure-bearing equipment, in consideration of the load of these components. 3.2 Operating pressure The maximum pressure that the top of the protected pressure-bearing equipment may reach, under normal working condition 3.3 Operating pressure ratio The ratio OF the working pressure of the protected pressure-bearing equipment TO the minimum bursting pressure of bursting disc. 3.4 Pressure relief system When the internal fluid of the protected pressure-bearing equipment exceeds the specified pressure, the system which can relieve fluid safely, including valves, pipe fitting, pressure relieving device and relieving pipe, etc. 3.5 Relieving pressure The maximum pressure that the inlet side of pressure relieving device may reach, during pressure relieving. 4.Application 4.1 General requirements 4.2 Independent use of bursting disc safety device 4.2.1 If one of the following conditions is satisfied, for the protected pressure-bearing equipment, an independent bursting disc safety device shall be used as overpressure relieving device. 4.2.2 For movable pressure vessel, unless otherwise specified in the relevant standards, the protected pressure-bearing equipment such as long-pipe trailer and pipe-bundle container may use bursting disc safety device as single overpressure relieving device. 4.2.3 For the protected pressure-bearing equipment which is often used at the conditions of overpressure or greatly variable temperature, independent bursting disc safety device shall not be used as overpressure relieving device. 4.3 Combined use of bursting disc safety device and safety valve 4.3.3 Bursting disc safety device connected to the outlet side of safety valve in series 4.3.3.1 If the outlet side of safety valve might be corroded or interfered by external pressure source, bursting disc safety device shall be installed at the outlet side of safety valve to protect the normal operation of safety valve. 4.3.3.2 The bursting disc safety device of movable pressure vessel shall not be installed at the outlet side of safety valve. 4.3.3.3 When bursting disc safety device is installed at the outlet side of safety valve, the following requirements shall be satisfied. 4.3.4 Bursting disc safety device connected to safety valve in parallel 4.3.4.1 If one of the following conditions is satisfied, for the protected pressure-bearing equipment, one or more of the combined bursting disc safety device and safety valve can be used. 5.Selection 5.1 General requirements 5.1.1 In the case of the selection of bursting disc safety device, the borne pressure and pressure deviation, etc. at the inlet and outlet sides of bursting disc safety device shall be considered. 5.1.6 When bursting disc safety device is used in liquid, the selected bursting disc safety device shall be adaptive to liquid to ensure that lining can be fully opened by the power of system when bursting disc bursts. 5.2 Selection of bursting disc 5.2.1 For the selection of bursting disc, the pressure of the protected pressure-bearing equipment, temperature, working medium, maximum operating pressure, etc. shall be considered. For the types of bursting disc, refer to Annex A. 5.3 Selection of bursting disc materials 5.3.1 Aluminum, nickel, austenitic stainless steel, Inconel, Monel or graphite bursting disc can be used based on the working conditions and structure features of the protected pressure-bearing equipment. Unless otherwise specified, titanium and hastelloy bursting disc can also be used. For the maximum service temperature of normal materials, refer to Annex A of GB 567.1-2012. 5.4 Selection of bursting pressure 5.4.1 The specified bursting pressure of bursting disc safety device shall be determined by the design organization of the protected pressure-bearing equipment according to the working conditions of the protected pressure-bearing equipment and the relevant safety technical regulations. 5.4.2 The design organization of bursting disc safety device shall determine the minimum and the maximum bursting pressures according to the working conditions and structure features of the protected pressure-bearing equipment, the requirements of user, the results of the relevant projects, the relevant safety technical standards, and the scope of production, etc. 5.5 Determination of discharge capacity of bursting disc 5.5.1 When bursting disc safety device is the only overpressure relieving device, the discharge capacity of relief system is calculated according to 5.5.2 or 5.5.3. 5.6 Determination of replacement period of bursting disc 6.Installation 6.1 Installation position of bursting disc safety device and pipe setting 6.1.1 Installation position in system 6.1.1.1 Bursting disc safety device shall be installed on the body or auxiliary pipe of pressure-bearing equipment to make it easy to install, inspect and replace. 6.1.1.4 If one of the following conditions is satisfied, install the bursting disc safety device in the pressured sealed space or dangerous space (pressure-bearing equipment). 6.1.1.5 For pressure-bearing equipment such as heat exchanger, vapor may be produced when medium turns from high temperature to low temperature; bursting disc safety device shall be installed in low temperature space. 6.1.2 Pipeline arrangement of bursting disc safety device 6.1.2.1 The area of cross section of all the pipes and fittings between pressure-bearing equipment and bursting disc safety device shall be lower than the vent area of bursting disc safety device. The area of cross section of bursting disc safety device shall be greater than the vent area of bursting disc safety device. 6.1.2.6 For the installation of the relieving pipe of bursting disc safety device, the center line of pipe shall be aligned with that of bursting disc safety device to prevent the uneven stress of bursting disc which may lead to the damage of the edge of bursting disc or variation of bursting pressure. 6.1.2.7 When there may be combustible medium relieved out of relieving pipe of bursting disc safety device, back-fire relieving valve etc. shall be installed to prevent fire hazards. 6.1.3 Installation of the combined bursting disc safety device and safety valve 6.1.3.1 When bursting disc safety device is installed between pressure-bearing equipment and safety valve, pressure gage and relieving valve shall be installed at the inlet side of safety valve to prevent pressure accumulation between bursting disc and safety valve. 6.1.3.2 When bursting disc safety device is installed between pressure-bearing equipment 6.1.4 Installation of block valve on the pipe of bursting disc safety device 6.1.4.1 Adopt direct-through-type structured block valve. Its connection mode and strength shall be matched with bursting disc safety device, and the valve shall be locked or lead- sealed (full open or full close). 6.1.4.2 In the event that block valves are installed between bursting disc safety device and pressure-bearing equipment, and if pressure-bearing equipment generates pressure and block valve is used for maintenance and the replacement of bursting disc safety device, then block valve shall be at full open status and locked or lead-locked under normal working condition. 6.1.5 Others 6.1.5.1 When the relieving pipe of bursting disc safety device is too long, and in consideration of the great impact of temperature variation to the shape of pipeline and the possible impact on bursting disc, expansion joint shall be installed when necessary, so as to reduce the over-deformation of pipeline. 6.2.2 Bursting disc assemblies 6.2.2.1 Take bursting disc out of box; determine whether there is flaw or damage on the surface; carefully put it in bursting-disc-holder; protect bursting disc during installation. 6.2.2.2 In the case of the installation of bursting disc, determine whether its label is the same with that of bursting-disc-holder and whether consistent with the direction of relieving. ......Source: Above contents are excerpted from the full-copy PDF -- translated/reviewed by: www.ChineseStandard.net / Wayne Zheng et al.
