1 Scope

This part of DZ/T 0276 specifies the determination of rock particle density by the pycnometer method. This section applies to rock particle density tests in rock physical and mechanical properties tests.

2 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 2.1 Particle density The mass per unit volume of rock solid particles.

3 Principle

The pulverized sample is dried, placed in a pycnometer and weighed, and the test solution is added to half of the pycnometer volume to be fully vented and filled with the test solution. The pycnometer is called the mass of the pycnometer, the test solution and the sample, and then the pycnometer is washed, and the test solution which is treated by the exhaust gas and tested at the same temperature is injected into the specific gravity. In the bottle, weigh the pycnometer and the test solution and calculate the particle density.

4 instruments

4.1 Crusher or porcelain mortar. 4.2 Balance. The maximum weighing value is.200g, and the reading accuracy is 0.001g. 4.3 Sample box. 4.4 Drying box. 4.5 Dryer. 4.6 Vacuum extraction equipment and boiling equipment. 4.7 Pycnometer. The volume is 100mL or 50mL. The calculation of the pycnometer should be based on the calculation correction method (Appendix C). 4.8 Constant temperature water tank. 4.9 Thermometer. The measurement range is from 0 °C to 50 °C with an accuracy of 0.5 °C.

5.1 The sample should be broken into rock powder after the block density test. 5.2 Sample processing is divided into two cases. a) For rocks that do not contain magnetic minerals, they are first pulverized into rock powder by a pulverizer, all passed through a 0.25 mm analysis sieve and then sucked with a magnet. Iron filings. b) For rocks containing magnetic minerals, the rock should be crushed with a porcelain mortar or an agate mortar, all passing through a 0.25 mm sieve.
