1 Scope

This document establishes the determination of regional rainstorm processes and the division of comprehensive intensity levels, and describes the corresponding calculation methods. This document applies to monitoring, assessment and servicing of regional storm events.

2 Normative references

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 rainstorm Rainfall with cumulative precipitation greater than or equal to 50mm in 24 hours. 3.2 regional rainstorm Large-scale heavy rainfall induced by mesoscale to large-scale weather systems (3.1). Note. The spatial scale of typical regional rainstorms is greater than 100km. 3.3 Meteorological observation stations within a certain range (usually not more than 500km) used to monitor regional weather and climate events.

4 Data requirements
