Foreword

This Part of GB/T 3903 identically adopts the International Standard ISO 18895.2006 Footwear - Test methods for shanks - Fatigue resistance (English version). For easy use, this Part makes the following editorial modifications. a) modified “this International Standard” to “this Part”; b) used decimal point “.” to replace “,” which was used as decimal point; c) deleted the foreword of ISO 18895.2006; d) deleted the table of contents of ISO 18895.2006; e) directly used a national standard as reference which is corresponding to the International standard that was used as reference in ISO 18895.2006; f) deleted the appendix of ISO 18895.2006. This Part was proposed by China Light Industry Association. This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Footwear of Standardization Administration of China. 1 Scope

This Part of GB/T 3903 specifies a method for assessing the fatigue resistance of steel shanks used for the reinforcement of the waist region of footwear. This Part is applicable to shanks of footwear irrespective of the material.

2 Normative references

The following standards contain the provisions which, through reference in this Part of GB/T 3903, constitute the provisions of this Part. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Part. However, the parties who enter into agreement based on this Part are encouraged to investigate whether the latest versions of these documents are applicable. For undated reference documents, the latest versions apply to this Part. GB/T 22049 Footwear - Standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing of footwear and components for footwear (GB/T 22049-2008, ISO 18454.2001, IDT)

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this Part of GB/T 3903, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 fatigue resistance the resistance of a shank, under specified conditions, to repeated loading cycles
