Foreword

GB/T 34560 “Structural steels” is divided into 6 parts: - Part 1: General technical delivery condition for hot-rolled products; - Part 2: Technical delivery conditions for structural steels for general purposes; - Part 3: Technical delivery conditions for fine grain structural steels; - Part 4: Technical delivery conditions for high yield strength quenched and tempered structural steel plates; - Part 5: Technical delivery condition for atmospheric corrosion resisting steels; - Part 6: Technical delivery conditions for seismic-improved structural steels for building. This Part is Part 5 of GB/T 34560. This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This Part uses redraft law to modify and adopt ISO 630-5:2014 “Structural steels - Part 5: Technical delivery conditions for structural steels with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance”. This Part, compared with ISO 630-5:2014, has structural adjustments. Annex A lists a comparison table of clause-subclause number of this Part and ISO 630- 5:2014. This Part, compared with ISO 630-5:2014, has technical differences. The clauses involved in these differences have been marked by a vertical single line (|) at the blank of the outer margin. Annex B gives a table of the corresponding technical differences and their causes. This Part also makes the following editorial changes: - Delete Bibliography of ISO 630-5:2014; - ADD informative Annex F; - ADD informative Annex G. This Part was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association. Structural steels - Part 5: Technical delivery condition for atmospheric corrosion resisting steels

1 Scope

This Part of GB/T 34560 specifies the terms and definitions, classification and designation representation, order content, dimensions and tolerances on dimensions, shape, and mass, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and certification of atmospheric corrosion resisting structural steels. This Part applies to steel plates and strips, wide flats, section steels, and bars (hereinafter referred to as “steels”) with nominal thickness or diameter not exceeding 200 mm for welding or bolting.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 34560.1 and the following apply to this document. 3.1 Atmospheric corrosion resisting steel Steel in which a certain number of alloying elements, such as P, Cr, Ni, Cu, etc., have intentionally been added in order to increase its resistance to atmospheric corrosion, by forming an auto-protective oxide layer on the base metal. Note: These steels are commonly known as “weathering steels”.

4 Classification and designation representation

4.1 Classification According to the phosphorus content of steel, the steel of this Part is divided into two classes: a) Class W: It indicates atmospheric corrosion resisting structural steel; b) Class WP: It indicates atmospheric corrosion resisting structural steel with a high P content. 4.2 Designation representation The steel designation consists of five parts: Chinese pinyin “Q” of “yield strength”, specified minimum upper yield strength value, code for “atmospheric corrosion resisting steel” (English first letter “W” or “WP”), delivery state (N or +N), quality grade (C, D). Example: Q355WPNC Where: Q - The first letter of Chinese pinyin “Qu” for the yield strength of steel; ......
