3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 generator units A measurement system for real-time online monitoring of the operating status of various parts of a hydro-generator set. 3.2 Key phase signal keyphase The reference azimuth signal of the hydro-generator set status online monitoring system on the main shaft. 3.3 vibration The reciprocating displacement of designated points of each component of the unit relative to the equilibrium position over time. 3.4 Run-out The radial vibration of a certain part of the main shaft of a hydro-generator set relative to the adjacent fixed parts. Note. Also known as shaft relative vibration. 3.5 pressure pulsation The reciprocating variation of the fluid pressure in the flow channel relative to the average value during a selected period of time. 3.6 air gap The minimum radial distance between the outer edge of the generator rotor pole and the inner edge of the stator core. 3.7 magnetic flux density The magnetic flux passing perpendicularly through a unit area.
