Users shall be strictly in accordance with the relevant provisions for proper use, and shall have the responsibility to take appropriate safety and health measures.1 ScopeThis Part of the GB/T 2449 specifies the requirements, sampling, test methods, inspection rules, marks, packaging, transportation, storage and safety of the liquid sulphur for industrial use. This Part is applicable to the liquid sulphur for industrial use produced from recycled petroleum refinery gas and natural gas. For the liquid sulphur for industrial use produced by using other processes, this Part may also be referred to for implementation.2 Normative referencesThe following documents are essential to the application of this document. Test sieves of metal wire cloth GB/T 6680 General rules for sampling liquid chemical products GB/T 6682 Water for analytical laboratory use – Specification and test methods 5.1.1 Sampling method TAKE samples according to the provisions in the GB/T 6680 and the following ways. – TAKE samples from the tankers in the infusion or discharge process. USE the method of automatic or mechanical closure to periodically take point samples. – TAKE samples from the tanks. USE the actual loaded liquid sulphur as a benchmark. Respectively TAKE samples from the sampling ports equipped with valves in the upper, middle and lower positions. MIX the samples in equal volumes into average samples. If there are no sampling ports but discharge openings on the tankers or tanks, TAKE samples from the discharge openings instead. 5.1.2 Sample size The total number of samples taken shall not be less than 1kg. After solidification, MAKE the samples into the laboratory samples used for determining the inspection items, except the mass fraction of hydrogen sulfide. If the laboratory samples are more than 1kg, CRUSH them into the fragments with the diameters of less than 25mm, and thus DIVIDE them into the laboratory samples weighing 1kg. 5.1.3 Laboratory sample processing DIVIDE the laboratory samples in equal volumes into test samples and reservation samples. Respectively PUT them into the sample bottles (sacks). SEAL afterwards. STICK labels on the sample bottles (sacks). INDICATE the product names, batch numbers, sampling date, sampling personnel, etc. The reservation samples shall be kept for at least 30d. 5.1.4 Preparation of test samples SMASH about 500g of test samples, until they can pass through the test sieve with the pore size of 250μm. All the test sieves being used shall conform to the requirements for R40/3 series in the GB/T 6003.1. 5.2 Sampling used for determining the mass fractions of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen polysulfide According to the provisions in the GB/T 6680, USE the sampling device shown in Figure 1 to take samples from the sampling ports (discharge openings) of the tankers or tanks. 6.2 Determination of the appearance USE the visual observation method for appearance determination. 6.3 Determination of the mass fraction of sulphur It shall be in accordance with the provisions in the GB/T 2449.1. 6.4 Determination of the mass fraction of water content It shall be in accordance with the provisions in the GB/T 2449.1. 6.5 Determination of the mass fraction of ash content It shall be in accordance with the provisions in the GB/T 2449.1. 6.6 Determination of the acidity It shall be in accordance with the provisions in the GB/T 2449.1. 6.7 Determination of the mass fraction of organics It shall be in accordance with the provisions in the GB/T 2449.1. 6.8 Determination of the mass fraction of arsenic It shall be in accordance with the provisions in the GB/T 2449.1. 6.9 Determination of the mass fraction of iron It shall be in accordance with the provisions in the GB/T 2449.1. 6.10 Determination of the mass fractions of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen polysulfide 6.10.1 Principle PLACE the specimens in the oil bath at 145°C ± 2°C so that they can become molten. USE nitrogen to purge the hydrogen sulfide in the specimens. USE zinc acetate solution to absorb the purged hydrogen sulfide gas, and to generate the zinc sulfide precipitate. In the acid solutions, zinc sulfide reacts with iodine. USE sodium thiosulfate standard volumetric solution to titrate excessive iodine. CALCULATE the mass fraction of hydrogen sulfide according to the consumption of iodine. The equations are as follows. type inspection at least once a month. CONDUCT the type inspection under one of the following circumstances. a) When there are changes in sources of the raw and auxiliary materials or processes, which might affect the product quality; b) When resuming production after production halts; c) When there are major differences between the exit-factory inspection results and the last type inspection results; d) When the national quality supervision and inspection agency requires the type inspection; e) When the users require the type inspection. 7.4 USE the comparison method of rounding values specified in the GB/T 8170 to determine whether the inspection results conform to this Part. If there is one indicator in the inspection results fails to conform to the requirements of this Part, TAKE samples again for re-inspection. Even if there is only one indicator in the re-inspection results fails to conform to the requirements of this Part, the entire batch of products shall be determined as non-qualified. 7.5 The organizations using the liquid sulphur for industrial use shall have the right to conduct acceptance to the received liquid sulphur for industrial use according to the provisions of this Part, and to examine whether the quality conforms to the requirements of this Part. In the event that the supply and requisitioning parties have any dissent concerning the product quality, the qualified third-party inspection agency shall arbitrate the inspection.8 Symbols, packaging, transportation and storage8.1 Each packaging container of the liquid sulphur for industrial use shall have an obvious and solid symbol of “Flammable Liquid” conforming to the provisions of the GB 190. 8.2 The liquid sulphur for industrial use shall be loaded to special tankers for transportation.
