3 Terms, Definitions and Abbreviations

3.1 Terms and Definitions For the purposes of this Part, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1.2 Fixed equipment MS that is intended for operation at a fixed location and powered by AC power supply. 3.1.3 Idle mode A kind of operating mode of MS receiver or transceiver. Under this mode, the equipment under test (EUT) has already been powered up and can provide services and also make response to the demand of setting up calls. 3.1.4 Integral antenna equipment The antenna that such kind of equipment does not need external terminal and is a part of the equipment; the integral antenna may be internal or external antenna. 3.1.5 Port Particular interface, of the specified equipment, with the external electromagnetic environment. 3.1.6 RXQUAL Evaluation on received signal quality that is generated by mobile station, being taken as the basis for control and switching of radio-frequency power in mobile communication. 3.2 Abbreviations The following abbreviations are adopted in this Part.

4 Test Conditions

4.1 Universal Test Conditions and Configuration The test shall be carried out under normal test conditions specified in the relevant product standards. 4.2.3 Test arrangement at input port of receiver SS shall be located outside the test environment. 4.2.4 Test arrangement at output port of receiver The audio output of EUT shall be coupled via a nonmetallic acoustic tube to an audio analyzer outside the test environment and may also adopt other feasible methods, but they shall be recorded in the test report. 4.3 Test-exempted Frequency Band 4.4 Measurement Conditions for Spurious Emissions 4.4.1 Initialization of MS operating mode When measuring spurious emissions, the measurement shall be carried out when EUT is at the special and idle operating modes respectively. 4.5 Measurement Conditions and Arrangement for Continuous Emissions Measurement shall be carried out at the mode that EUT generates maximum emission during normal operation. 4.6 Immunity Test Conditions and Arrangement During the immunity test of transmitter, the transmitter shall operate at the maximum rated output power, normal test modulation shall be adopted, and communication link shall be established. 4.7 Narrow-band Response of Receiver and Transceiver The narrow-band responses on receiver and transceiver occurring during the tests at discrete frequencies are identified by the following method. 5 Performance Criteria EMC test system Converter Anechoic chamber Acoustic tube 5.1 Performance Evaluation Method The establishment and maintaining of communication link, the assessment of RXQUAL, the audio assessment by monitoring speech output signal level at the mobile and portable state as well as assessment of BLER when operating under the GPRS/EGPRS functions are taken as the performance criteria to ensure the basic functions of transmitter and receiver being assessed in the immunity test. Additionally, the test shall be carried out at the idle mode of transceiver or standby mode of transmitter so as to guarantee the transmitter not generating mis-operation. The maintaining of communication link shall be assessed through indicator which may be a part of SS or EUT. 5.2 Performance Criteria for Transmitter under Continuous Emissions In the test, communication link shall be established and maintained. 5.3 Performance Criteria for Transmitter under Transient Emissions In the test, communication link shall be established and maintained. 5.4 Performance Criteria for Receiver under Continuous Emissions In the test, communication link shall be established and maintained. 5.5 Performance Criteria for Receiver under Transient Emissions In the test, communication link shall be established and maintained. After the test, EUT shall be able to operate normally without communication quality reduction detectable to users, user control function loss or stored data loss, and also shall maintain communication link. 5.6 Performance Criteria under Discontinuity Condition In the test, performance degradation and function loss are allowable; EUT transmitter shall not generate unintentional transmitting at idle state.
