Foreword
This document was drafted in accordance with the rules in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for
Standardization - Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.
This document serves as a replacement of GB/T 798-1988 Eye Bolts. In comparison with GB/T
798-1988, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, the main technical
changes are as follows.
a) “NOTE. the variety of commodity fasteners shall be preferred” is deleted (see Chapter
1 of Version 1988);
b) The specification range and Grade-C product dimensions are modified; Grade-A and
Grade-B products are added (see Chapter 1 and Chapter 4; Chapter 1 and Chapter 3
of Version 1988);
c) The quoted standards on bolts are unified as GB/T 193, GB/T 9145 and GB/T 9146
(see Table 3; Table 2 of Version 1988);
d) The requirements for perpendicularity tolerance and symmetry tolerance are added
(see Chapter 5);
e) It is added that the universal technical conditions shall comply with GB/T 16983 (see
Table 3);
f) It is added that the technical requirements for the surface treatment of hot-dip
galvanized layer shall comply with GB/T 5267.3 (see Table 3);
g) It is added that the surface defects shall comply with GB/T 5779.1 (see Table 3).

1 Scope
This document specifies the types, dimensions, technical conditions and designation of eye
bolts.
This document is applicable to eye bolts with the thread specification of M5 ~ M39 and the
product grade of Grade-A, Grade-B and Grade-C.
