Foreword
GB/T 4214 "Test method for noise of household and similar electrical
appliances" is divided into 7 parts.
- Part 1.General requirements;
- Part 2.Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners;
- Part 3.Particular requirements for dishwashers;
- Part 4.Particular requirements for washing machines and spin extractors;
- Part 5.Particular requirements for electric shavers;
- Part 6.Particular requirements for electric hair care appliances;
- Part 7.Particular requirements for tumbler dryers.
This Part is Part 7 of GB/T 4214.This Part is used in conjunction with GB/T
4214.1-2017.
The portion where this Part states “Application” indicates that the corresponding
provisions in GB/T 4214.1-2017 apply to this Part. For the portion where this
Part states “Replacement”, the provisions in this Part shall prevail. The portion
where this Part states “Addition” means that, in addition to complying with the
corresponding provisions in GB/T 4214.1-2017, the subclauses added in the
provisions of this Part shall also be complied with.
This Part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Part replaces GB/T 4214.7-2012 "Household and similar electrical
appliances - Test code for determination of airborne acoustical noise - Particular
requirements for tumble dryers". Compared with GB/T 4214.7-2012, in addition
to editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.
- Modify the test enclosure as the test enclosure specified in GB/T 4214.1-
2017 (see 6.5.5; 6.5.5 of the 2012 edition);
- ADD instructions that appliances only designed for front loading and
specified by the manufacturer for building under a counter or for placing
under a worktop between cabinets (under-counter types) shall be built-in in
a test enclosure (see 6.5.5).
This Part, using translation method, is identical to IEC 60704-2-6.2012
"Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination
of airborne acoustical noise - Part 2-6.Particular requirements for tumble
dryers".
China’s document which has a consistent correspondence with the international
document normatively referenced in this Part is as follows.
- GB/T 25516-2010 Acoustics - Laboratory measurement procedures for
ducted silencers and air - Terminal units – Insertion loss, flow noise and
total pressure loss (ISO 7235.2003, IDT).
This Part has made the following editorial change.
- In order to unify the name of this series of standards, change the name of
this Part to "Test method for noise of household and similar electrical
appliances - Particular requirements for tumbler dryers".
This Part was proposed by China National Light Industry Council.
This Part shall be under the jurisdiction of National Standardization Technical
Committees on Household Electric Appliances (SAC/TC 46).

1 Scope and object
This clause of GB/T 4214.1-2017 is applicable except as follows.
1.1 Scope
1.1.1 General
Addition.
This Part of GB/T 4214 apply to single unit electric tumble dryers for household
and similar use intended for placing on the floor against a wall, for building-in
or placing under a counter, a kitchen worktop or under a sink, for wall-mounting
or on a counter. For the purpose of this Part, washer-dryer combinations, when
operated as a dryer, are considered as a tumble dryer.
Note 101.For test method for washing function, see GB/T 4214.4.
This Part is also applicable for gas-fired tumble dryers.
1.1.2 Types of noise
Replacement.
The methods specified in GB/T 6881.2, GB/T 6881.3 and ISO 3744 can be used
for measuring noise emitted by tumble dryers.
1.1.3 Size of the source
Replacement.
The method specified in ISO 3744 is applicable to noise sources of any size.
When applying GB/T 6881.2 and GB/T 6881.3, care should be taken that the
maximum size of the appliance under test fulfils the requirements specified in
1.3 of GB/T 6881.2 and GB/T 6881.3.
