Foreword
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 4094.2-2005 “electric vehicle-symbols for controls,
indicators and tell-tales”.
Compared with GB/T 4094.2-2005, in addition to editorial changes, the main
technical changes of this part are as follows.
--- Add marked instructions and non-marked instructions of symbols for
controls, indicators and tell-tales of electric vehicles; (see 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and
4.4);
--- Add the requirements of supplementing auxiliary information based on the
symbols (see 4.5);
--- Add the relevant provisions of symbol amendment (see 4.6);
--- Modify the relevant requirements of displaying color of tell-tales (see
Chapter 5, 2005 edition Chapter 5);
--- Modify the symbol for the state of charge of power storage battery (see
Table 1-No.1, Table 1-No.1 of 2005 edition);
--- Modify the ready symbol of driving system (see Table 1-No.2, Table 1-
No.7 of 2005 edition);
--- Add the limitation symbol of driving power (see Table 1-No.3);
--- Modify the connection symbol of external charging cable (see Table 1-
No.4, Table 1-No.6 of 2005 edition);
--- Modify the fault symbol of power storage battery (see Table 2-No.1, Table
1-No.3 of 2005 edition);

1 Scope
This part of GB/T 4094 specifies the unique symbols for controls, indicators and
tell-tales of electric vehicles and the basic requirements of tell-tales displaying
color.
This part applies to electric vehicles.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential for the application of this document. For
dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated
references, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this
document.

3 Terms and definitions
Terms and definitions defined in GB 4094, GB/T 4782, GB/T19596 apply to this
document.
4 Requirements
4.1 If electric vehicles are equipped with controls, indicators and tell-tales of
electric vehicles listed in Table 1, the corresponding symbols shall be marked.
Symbols shall be consistent with the provisions of this part.
4.2 If electric vehicles are equipped with controls, indicators and tell-tales of
electric vehicles listed in Table 2, the corresponding symbols may not be
marked. If marked, the symbols shall comply with the provisions of this part.
4.4 If electric vehicles are equipped with controls, indicators and tell-tales that
are not listed in the functions of this part, the corresponding symbols can be
exempted from marking.
4.5 If it is deemed necessary to clarify the meaning of the symbols, it is allowed
to supplement and add auxiliary information such as words, numbers and
letters on the basis of the symbols listed in this part.
4.6 Symbols specified in this part are only limited to the following amendment;
the amendment shall comply with the provisions of GB 4094.It shall not change
the basic elements of symbols and affect the recognizability of symbols during
the use.
4.7 Other requirements of symbols shall be consistent with the provisions of GB 4094.
4.8 The principles of self-designed symbols and design of adding auxiliary
information shall be consistent with the provisions of GB 4094.
5 Displaying color of tell-tales
Symbols for tell-tales given in this part shall comply with the colors specified in
the provisions of this part.

The shape of symbols that are only used for controls, indicators and tell-tales
of electric vehicles is shown in Figure 1 ~ Figure 12.
7 Application method of symbols
Application method of color and location of symbols shall be consistent with the
provisions of GB 4094.
