Bamboo toothpicks
1 Scope
This standard specifies the product types, technical requirements, inspection methods,
inspection rules, identification, packaging, transportation, storage of bamboo
toothpicks.
This standard applies to bamboo toothpicks, which are used for tooth picking, using
bamboo, yellow bamboo, single bamboo and other bamboo materials as raw materials.
This standard does not apply to coated bamboo toothpicks.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Bamboo toothpicks
Bamboo sticks, which are used for picking teeth, using bamboo, yellow bamboo,
single bamboo and other bamboo materials as raw materials.
3.2
Little tip
The slender tip of the toothpick's tip.
3.3
Barbed tip
The barb-shaped tip of the toothpick tip.
3.4
Split tip
Stubble at the tip of a toothpick.
3.5
Arris tip
Longitudinal prismatic tip on the tip of the toothpick.
3.6
Decay
Due to the invasion of decay fungus, the cell wall material is decomposed, which
leads to the loosening of the bamboo tissue structure, the decrease of strength and
density, the change of bamboo tissue color.
3.7
Split
Separation of bamboo fibers, along the bamboo grain direction.
3.8
Wane
Cylinder edge defects, which are caused by planing, sanding, bumping, or
undersized bamboo toothpick material.
3.9
Stain
Local discoloration or stains on the surface, which is caused by the influence of
microorganisms, metals or chemicals.
3.10
Length (L) inspection is measured by a steel ruler, which is accurate to 0.5 mm.
6.2.3 Diameter
The diameter of the cylinder (d1) is inspected, at one-half of the full length. The plane
diameter of the tip (d2) is inspected, at the smallest point at the tip, by a vernier caliper,
which is accurate to 0.02 mm.
6.2.4 Taper angle of tip
The taper angle of tip (α) inspection shall be carried out, at the tips, by a universal angle
ruler.
6.3 Determination of moisture content
Take samples with complete packaging; make determination according to the
provisions of GB/T 1931.
7 Inspection rules
7.1 Inspection classification
Product inspection is divided into exit-factory inspection and type inspection.
7.2 Exit-factory inspection
Each batch of products shall be subject to exit-factory inspection. The exit-factory
inspection includes the following items:
- Sensory inspection;
- Specification size and deviation inspection;
- Inspection of moisture content.
7.3 Type inspection
7.3.1 Inspect all items.
7.3.2 After one year of normal production, type inspection shall be carried out, in one
of the following situations:
- Trial-type identification of new products or products after trans-plant production;
- During formal production, where there are major changes in structure, raw
materials, processes;
- When the production is restored after suspension for more than half a year;
