1 Scope
This document provides guidance on the implementation architecture, application
process, application scenarios of Ecode identification in electric wires/cables and
optical fibers/optical cable products (hereinafter referred to as "cable products").
This document is applicable to product identification and quality traceability in
application scenarios such as manufacturing, inspection and testing, user use,
supervision and inspection of cable products; it is also applicable to product
identification and traceability in other application scenarios such as product sales,
operation, logistics.
2 Normative references
The contents of the following documents constitute essential terms of this document
through normative references in the text. Among them, for dated references, only the
version corresponding to that date applies to this document; for undated references, the
latest version (including all amendments) applies to this document.

GB/T 35421 Identification system for internet of things -- Ecode encoding
platform (such as the national wire and cable quality traceability and service
platform), which is responsible for the industry application management of Ecode
coding and identification, as well as the collection, analysis, release of data and
information related to cable product quality.
- The enterprise level includes information systems such as ERP and MES of
production enterprises, information systems such as LIMS of inspection and testing
institutions, enterprise information systems used by cable users, sales companies,
transportation companies, etc. Its functions mainly include. the use of Ecode
identification, the collection and return of information and data, the docking of
trusted data.
6 Application process
6.1 Coding registration
The registration and management of Ecode coding conform to the requirements of
GB/T 35422.
6.2 Coding and application
Cable products uniformly use Ecode128 coding; the coding structure complies with the
requirements of GB/T 31866.
Manufacturing enterprises and other demand parties apply for and obtain Ecode coding
from the National Internet of Things Identification Management and Public Service
Platform (Ecode Platform) through the industry-level platform.
6.3 Data carrier
The data carrier of Ecode coding can be QR code, one-dimensional barcode, digital
characters, RFID tags, etc. When selecting, the following factors shall be considered.
a) The use of QR code as a data carrier should comply with the requirements of GB/T
35420; the use of one-dimensional barcode as a data carrier should comply with
the requirements of GB/T 35419; the use of RFID tags as a data carrier should
comply with the requirements of GB/T 35421; the use of digital characters as a
data carrier should be printed with a clear and complete Ecode identification that
can be read.
b) When using the Ecode identification on the cable product body, the type of data
carrier shall be determined according to the shape, size, material of the cable
product; for products with larger size (such as. the outer diameter of the cable or
the wide surface size of the flat cable is 30 mm or more), it should print QR codes
and digital characters; for products with smaller size, it should print one-
dimensional barcodes or digital characters. Manufacturers can determine the type
of data carrier according to production and process conditions, to ensure that the
Ecode identification on the cable product body can be read under normal
environmental conditions throughout the life cycle.
c) When printing the Ecode identification on other identification carriers of cable
products (including but not limited to product labels, certificates of conformity,
inspection and testing reports, quality documents, etc.), it should give priority to
using QR codes and digital characters.
6.4 Identification printing
6.4.1 Factors to be considered
As a cable product identification mark, the Ecode identification, in addition to meeting
the requirements of GB/T 6995.1, also needs to consider the following factors.
a) Physical carriers used for printing identification, including the cable product body
and other corresponding identification carriers (including but not limited to
product labels, certificates of conformity, inspection and testing reports, quality
documents, etc.).
b) When using data carriers such as QR codes, one-dimensional barcodes, digital
characters, the Ecode identification shall be printed on the outer surface of the
cable product body; the same Ecode identification shall be printed on other
corresponding identification carriers.
c) When printing on the cable product body, the readability of one-dimensional
barcodes, digital characters and other data carriers in a static state shall not be less
than 60%; the readability of two-dimensional codes shall not be less than 50%.
d) When the cable product body needs to be packaged in sections, it should ensure
that cable products of the same specification and model and the same batch have
the same Ecode identification; distinguish them by volume number or tray
number.
e) For cable products that are outside the scope specified in GB/T 6995.3 or cannot
be printed with the Ecode identification on the body, the Ecode identification shall
be printed on other identification carriers.
6.4.2 Printing position
When the Ecode identification is printed on the cable product body, its printing position
should be located behind the complete identification segment required by GB/T 6995.3
and related product standards. It can also be determined by the manufacturer, according
to the user's requirements without affecting the original identification content. The
printing size (or size) of the identification shall be similar to the adjacent identification
and easy to identify.

b) Inspection and testing institutions should mark the Ecode identification of the
inspected sample in the inspection and testing report; transmit the inspection and
testing report or its information back to the cable industry quality management
and service platform. See B.2 for application examples.
c) When bidding, cable users can verify the inspection and testing report by reading
the Ecode identification on the inspection and testing report; when purchasing
and accepting materials, it should realize data sharing of product quality
information by reading the Ecode identification on the cable product body or
certificate; during the distribution of materials, installation and use, project
acceptance and project operation, data sharing and cable product life cycle
management can be realized by reading the Ecode identification for related
organizations such as installation, supervision, acceptance, operation and
supervision; relevant data and information can be transmitted back to the cable
industry quality management and service platform. See B.3 for application
examples.
d) The regulatory agency should use Ecode coding for remote sampling or random
sampling, so that the inspected samples are consistent with the Ecode
identification on the inspection and testing report; the sampling and inspection
and testing related data and information are transmitted back to the cable industry
quality management and service platform. When there is a need for quality
traceability, the Ecode identification can be used to achieve cross-platform and
cross-system information sharing and quality traceability. See B.4 for application
examples.
7.2 Other application scenarios
When the Ecode identification is used in other application scenarios such as the sales,
operation, transportation of cable products, the product information including but not
limited to product name, sales order number, product inspection and testing report,
implementation standards can be queried and traced by reading the Ecode identification.
After obtaining authorization, the information given in Table A.1 can be queried
according to the method provided in 6.7; the relevant data and information of the
corresponding application scenario can be transmitted back to the cable industry quality
management and service platform. See Appendix C for application examples and
processes.

Application of cable product quality traceability management
B.1 Quality traceability management of cable manufacturers
B.1.1 Traceability management of raw materials
The traceability management of raw materials mainly includes the following contents.
a) Cable raw materials are both industrial products and raw materials for cable
production. The contents covered by the Ecode identification include but are not
limited to the raw material name, raw material information, supplier information,
model specifications or codes, production batch or date, quality inspection and
acceptance information, warehousing-in (return) information, warehousing-out
information, etc.
b) Cable manufacturers should use the Ecode identification to implement traceability
management of raw materials. Cable manufacturers should require raw material
suppliers to use the Ecode identification. When raw materials do not have the
Ecode identification, the cable manufacturer should assign it by itself.
c) In the raw material management process, by reading the Ecode identification and
entering the raw material information into the production execution system (such
as MES, etc.), the traceability of cable raw material information can be realized;
it can also be used to track the quality information of raw materials during the
cable production process.
d) When the production enterprise has not established a production execution system,
it can manually collect and record raw material information and use Ecode
identification information.
B.1.2 Traceability management in the production process
The traceability management process in the production process is shown in Figure B.1,
which mainly includes the following contents.
a) The production enterprise needs to establish an enterprise data center and apply
for and obtain the Ecode code from the national platform through the industry-
level platform. The production enterprise can maintain the relevance or
consistency of the Ecode code of the cable product and the production execution
system, according to its own optimized management process, including
formulating the Ecode code allocation plan for semi-finished products (if
necessary).
b) When picking or consuming materials in the production process, the raw material
information is entered into the production execution system (such as MES, etc.)
by reading the Ecode code or identification, which can be used for recording and
tracing the quality information of raw materials in the cable production process.
c) During the production process, the Ecode identification can be applied to the semi-
finished products of each production process; the information of the semi-finished
products (preferably multiple batches of semi-finished products) of the previous
process (including process inspection records) can be entered into the production
execution system by reading the Ecode identification, which can be used for the
traceability of the semi-finished product information and the traceability of the
cable product production process information.
d) The production process information should generally include but not be limited
to.
1) The production serial number or process name associated with the Ecode
identification;
2) The name and/or number of the production line;
3) Product model specifications;
4) The Ecode identification of the semi-finished product (preferably multiple
batches of semi-finished products) of the previous process (if any);
5) The Ecode identification of the semi-finished product of this process (if any);
6) The producer and production date;
7) The actual process parameters (including the necessary environmental
condition parameters);
8) The production quantity;
9) The inspector and the inspection date;
10) Inspection results and reports.
e) The manufacturer should directly associate the Ecode identification with its own
optimized production serial number; print the Ecode identification on the surface
of the finished cable body in the last production process (such as extruding the
outer sheath).
f) When the Ecode identification is applied to the finished cable body or other
carriers, in the subsequent finished product inspection, warehousing-in,
segmentation (division), warehousing-out, the information is entered into the
information system by reading the Ecode identification; some information such
testing report provided by the manufacturer.
b) When the purchased materials arrive for acceptance, it should read the Ecode
identification and enter/import the Ecode identification of the cable product into
the internal information management system or external information system
(such as the user industry information platform, etc.); when the purchased
materials are sampled, provide samples and Ecode identifications at the same time;
require the inspection department or external inspection and testing agency to
mark the Ecode identification of the sample in the inspection and testing report;
enter the relevant information of the inspection and testing report into the
information management system.
c) When cable products are used for construction projects or similar purposes, when
distributing materials, it should read the Ecode identification and enter the
identified object (such as the line, part, equipment, etc. of the project), quantity,
collecting department into the information management system; during the use
process such as laying, installation, operation, the Ecode identification, usage,
quality status of cable products and other information are entered into the
information management system, by reading the Ecode identification. As input
information for quality traceability, it is provided to the supervision organization,
project acceptance organization, regulatory agency as required.
d) When cable products are used for manufacturing or assembly in other products, it
should read the Ecode identification and enter/import it into the production
informationization or production execution system, to carry out batch
management and provide input information for the traceability of product quality.
e) When purchasing cable products in the retail market, it should confirm the brand,
origin, model specification, implementation standard and other quality-related
information of the product, by reading the Ecode identification, or as input
information for future quality traceability.
f) The relevant data and information of cable products at each application stage shall
be promptly transmitted back to the cable industry quality management and
service platform.
