1 Scope
This Standard provides a guideline for factors that need to be considered, application
architecture, encoding structure, data carrier and storage, identification application,
management mechanism and security mechanism of Ecode identification of the
identification system for Internet of Things.
This Standard is applicable to all parties involved in the construction of Ecode
identification application system in the identification system for Internet of Things.
2 Normative References
The following documents are indispensable to the application of this document. In
terms of references with a specified date, only versions with a specified date are
applicable to this document. In terms of references without a specified date, the latest
version (including all the modifications) is applicable to this document.

---The Ecode identification application layer is the top-level application part. It
includes platform interfaces and provides different services for different
business demands;
---The user layer includes institutional platform user, corporate user and individual
user;
---Management mechanism: it covers the entire architecture process, providing
encoding management functions, including registration information
maintenance, encoding data maintenance, encoding download and V + NSI
management, etc.;
---Security mechanism: it covers the entire architecture process, including general
security guidelines, application security guidelines and security assessments of
Ecode encoding, which shall comply with GB/T 38660-2020.
7 Encoding Structure
Ecode encoding structure shall comply with the relevant stipulations of GB/T 31866.
8 Data Carrier and Storage
8.1 General Rules
Ecode encoding may be stored in a variety of data carriers, such as: one-dimensional
barcode, two-dimensional barcode, RFID tag and NFC tag, etc. When using one-
dimensional barcode, two-dimensional barcode and NFC tag as the carrier, usually “E
= V + NSI + MD” is written into the tag as a whole. When using RFID as the carrier,
specific regulations may be made in accordance with the differences of the air-
transmitted tag protocol and tag storage structure. The acquisition of Ecode encoding
shall adopt corresponding automatic identification data collection tools in accordance
with the carrier format.
8.2 Storage in One-dimensional Barcode
One-dimensional barcode identification is expressed in code 128. The specific method
of expression shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 35419; the sequence from left
to right is successively: left blank area, start character, Ecode start character, Ecode,
symbol verification character, terminator, right blank area. The symbol structure shall
comply with GB/T 18347, as it is shown in Table 1.

9.5 Query and Backtracking
The Ecode platform provides an encoding query module, which is equipped with the
functions of Ecode encoding query, product query and express delivery query. The
service platform also provides online product traceability functions for corporate users.
9.6 Parsing
Ecode encoding parsing shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 36605.
The Ecode registration parsing system provides an archival database, which is
equipped with the function of information storage, for example, information of
registered registrants and authorized identifiers. Registration management functions,
such as: registration application acceptance, review, approval, publicity and release,
should be provided.
9.7 Platform Access
The Ecode platform provides two access modes, namely, Web mode and interface
mode. In the Web mode of access, after users log in to the Ecode platform, access is
implemented through the platform’s Webpage function. In the interface mode, a third-
party platform that provides the Ecode encoding services to users or enterprises
adopts the mode of HTTP protocol interface to implement access. The mode of access
shall comply with the stipulations of GB/T 36604.
10 Management Mechanism
10.1 Ecode Management Institution
Ecode registration and management institution is the national article numbering
management institution, whose responsibility is to manage the registration and
application of Ecode encoding; maintain Ecode registration information and encoding
data.
10.2 Maintenance of Registration Information
When the applicant’s registration information changes, the applicant may submit an
application for change to the national article numbering management institution. The
article numbering management institution shall regularly verify the information of
registered applicants. When the encoding scheme corresponding to the applied Ecode
header is no longer used, the Ecode header will be marked for deletion. Ecode header
marked for deletion will no longer be used for new applicants.
