1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, quality
requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, labeling and marking,
packaging, storage, transportation and sales of walnut oil.
This Standard applies crude walnut oil and finished product of walnut oil. The
quality index of crude walnut oil applies to the trade of crude oil only.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1 Walnut oil
The oil that is made and processed from Juglans regia Linne or Juglans sigillata
Dode.
3.2 Crude walnut oil
The walnut oil, that cannot be eaten directly, which is obtained from the walnut
for oil by pressing, leaching or the like, and meets the crude oil quality indexes
of this Standard and the national food safety standards.
3.3 Finished product of walnut oil
The edible oil product, that is made and processed from walnut for oil or crude
walnut oil, which meets the quality indexes for finished oil in this Standard and
the national food safety standards.
4 Classification
Walnut oil is divided into crude walnut oil and finished product of walnut oil.
5 Quality requirements
5.1 Basic composition and main physical parameters
Note: national food safety standards such as GB 2716.
5.4 Others
Walnut oil shall not be mixed with other edible oils and non-edible oils; no flavors
and spices shall be added.
6 Inspection methods
6.1 Refractive index inspection: perform according to GB/T 5527.
6.2 Relative density inspection: perform according to GB/T 5526.
6.3 Iodine value inspection: perform according to GB/T 5532.
6.4 Saponification value inspection: perform according to GB/T 5534.
6.5 Fatty acid composition inspection: perform according to GB 5009.168.
6.6 Transparency, odor and flavor inspection: perform according to GB/T 5525.
6.7 Color inspection: perform according to GB/T 5009.37.
6.8 Moisture and volatile matter content inspection: perform according to GB
5009.236.
6.9 Insoluble impurities content inspection: perform according to GB/T 15688.
6.10 Acid value inspection: perform according to GB 5009.229.
