This document was drafted in accordance with the rules provided in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives
for Standardization - Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.
This document serves as a replacement for GB/T 20290-2016 Electric Dishwashers for
Household Use - Methods for Measuring the Performance. In comparison with GB/T 20290-
2016, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications, the main technical changes
are as follows.

This document modifies and adopts IEC 60436.2020 Electric Dishwashers for Household Use
- Methods for Measuring the Performance.
In comparison with IEC 60436.2020, the following structural adjustments are made.
---3.1.12 “Chinese standard tableware” is added, and 3.1.13 ~ 3.1.38 correspond to 3.1.12
~ 3.1.37 of IEC 60436.2020;
---The Chinese tableware loading diagram for I.5 reference machine is added.
The technical differences between this document and IEC 60436.2020, and the causes for these
differences are as follows.
---The definitions of automatic or self-cleaning filter and manual filter are modified (see
3.1.35 and 3.1.36), so as to facilitate quantitative understanding of the terms;
---The normative reference to GB 38383-2019, and the corresponding Chinese tableware
terms, specifications and test requirements, as well as the target score of the reference
machine for Chinese tableware and the Chinese tableware loading diagram are added
(see 3.1.12, 6.1, 7.2.3 and I.5), so as to evaluate the performance characteristics of
dishwashers for Chinese tableware;

1 Scope
This document specifies the main performance characteristics of electric dishwashers for
household and similar use and describes standard methods for testing these characteristics.
2 Normative References
The contents of the following documents constitute indispensable clauses of this document
through the normative references in the text. In terms of references with a specified date, only
versions with a specified date are applicable to this document. In terms of references without a
specified date, the latest version (including all the modifications) is applicable to this document.

3 Terms, Definitions and Symbols
3.1 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document.
3.1.1 dishwasher
Machine that cleans, rinses and dries tableware by chemical, mechanical, thermal, and electric means.
3.1.2 free-standing dishwasher
Dishwasher which is intended to be installed without an enclosing structure.
4 Test Items
The standard methods for measuring performance characteristics are determined as follows.
---In accordance with the requirements of Chapter 6 and Chapter 7, carry out a combined
cleaning and drying performance test runs;
---In accordance with the requirements of Chapter 8, carry out power consumption, water
consumption, cycle time and programme time tests.
5 General Conditions for Testing
The dishwasher manufacturer’s instructions for installation and use shall be followed. In case
of disagreement, the requirements of this document shall prevail.
Dishwashers shall be tested as the free-standing type. If it can be both free-standing and
built-in / integrated, then, the test shall be carried out as free-standing.
6 Combined Cleaning Performance and Drying Performance Test Runs
6.1 General Requirements and Purposes
The test shall be carried out under the environmental conditions of Chapter 5, simultaneously
with the reference machine specified in Appendix I.
The test load soiling of the reference machine and the test machine shall be prepared at the same time.
7 Combined Evaluation of Cleaning and Drying performance
The light source shall be installed in a way that avoids direct exposure to light during the evaluation.
It is importance to avoid cross soiling (dropping, transferring or dripping) of soils from
one tableware to another. In addition, touch the tableware as little as possible.
