5 Preparation of Test Vehicle
5.1 Charging of REESS
5.1.1 Overall requirements
If the hybrid electric vehicles can be externally charged, the REESS shall be charged in
accordance with the provisions of 5.1.2 and 5.1.3.If the hybrid electric vehicles cannot be
externally charged, in accordance with the illustrative materials provided by the vehicle
Test Section
5.1.2 Regular charging
Regular charging should adopt the AC charging mode. If the vehicle has a DC charging mode,
in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations, the DC charging mode may
be selected.
5.3 Vehicle Test Mass and Load Distribution
5.3.1 Test mass and load distribution requirements for various categories of vehicles
5.3.1.1 Category-M1 vehicles and Category-N1 vehicles with a maximum design total mass
less than 2 t
5.3.1.2 Category-M2 vehicles, Category-M3 vehicles, and Category-N vehicles with a
maximum design total mass not less than 2 t
Except for special provisions, the test mass applicable to Category-M2 and Category-M3 urban
buses shall be the curb weight of the complete vehicle plus 65% of the maximum design loading
mass. The test mass of semi-trailer tractors and tractor trucks shall be the maximum design total
mass in the combination vehicle state specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
5.3.2 Test mass and load distribution requirements for various test items
When carrying out the maximum thirty-minutes speed test, maximum speed test and
acceleration ability test, the vehicle shall respectively be loaded in accordance with the
provisions of 5.3.1 and this clause.
6 Determination of Test Items
6.1 The test items of power performance are shown in Table 2.
6.2 If the test vehicle has a manual selection function for the power system working mode,
which enables it to be manually switched to the pure electric mode, and when performing the
power performance test in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 18385, it will not
automatically switch to other power system working modes (hybrid mode or pure thermal
mode), then, the power performance test of the vehicle in the pure electric mode shall also be
carried out. For specific test items, see 6.1.
7 Test Methods
7.1 General Rules
7.1.1 At ambient temperature, tyre pressure shall comply with the vehicle manufacturer’s
provisions. When carrying out the rampway test, the tyre pressure shall be the tyre inflation
pressure specified by the vehicle manufacturer in a cold state plus an additional 20 kPa; the tyre
tread depth shall be at least 75% of the original tread depth and the tread shall be in good
condition.
7.1.2 The vehicle shall be prepared and preheated in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 5.
7.1.3 In addition to the necessary equipment and daily vehicle control parts for the test, the
lighting devices and auxiliary devices (such as. air conditioner, seat heating and multimedia,
etc.) on the vehicle shall be turned off during the test. If the vehicle is equipped with hidden
lamps, the lamp holder shall be located where the lamps are hidden. If there is a demand for
vehicle driving safety during the test, the vehicle lights can be turned on, but this shall be
indicated in the record.
7.1.4 Before carrying out the various tests specified in 7.2 ~ 7.5, check the SOC of the vehicle.
7.1.5 The vehicle shall be clean, and if there are no special requirements, the windows and the
vents of the passenger compartment or driving cab shall be closed during the test.
7.1.8 When carrying out the tests specified in 7.2 ~ 7.6 on vehicles equipped with a transmission,
in accordance with the various test requirements, select a gear. If there are no special
requirements, then, carry out the tests in accordance with the default setting gear or the gear
recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
7.1.9 Refer to the formats in Appendix B to record the valid data of various tests.
7.2 Maximum Thirty-minutes Speed Test in the Hybrid Mode
7.2.1 The maximum thirty-minutes speed test can be conducted on a circular road or on a chassis
7.2.3 If the vehicle decelerates uncontrollably by the driver during the test, and the vehicle
speed does not reach 95% of the estimated maximum thirty-minutes speed, the test can be re-
performed in accordance with the above-mentioned estimated maximum thirty-minutes speed.
If the vehicle still cannot maintain the speed for 30 minutes, then, the vehicle manufacturer
shall re-estimate the maximum thirty-minutes speed, until the vehicle can run at a constant
speed for 30 minutes in accordance with the maximum thirty-minutes speed re-estimated by the
vehicle manufacturer.
7.2.4 Measure the mileage S1 traveled by the vehicle, and use Formula (2) to calculate the
average maximum thirty-minutes speed v30.
7.3 Maximum Speed Test in the Hybrid Mode
7.3.1 Standard test procedures (bi-directional test)
7.3.1.1 Set the measurement length, which shall be at least 200 m.
7.3.2 Test procedures for single direction
7.3.2.1 Due to the characteristics of the test road, the vehicle cannot reach its maximum speed
from two directions, so the test can be conducted from only one direction. Its road
characteristics shall satisfy the requirements of 4.4.1 and 4.4.2.
7.3.3 Test procedures of maximum speed on circular roads
7.4 Acceleration Ability Test in the Hybrid Mode
7.4.1 General requirements
7.5 Maximum Gradability Test in the Hybrid Mode

shifting device shall be placed in the gear specified by the vehicle manufacturer. If there is no
specially specified gear, the manual gear shall be placed in the lowest forward gear, the
automatic gear shall be placed in gear D, and all-wheel-drive vehicles shall use all-wheel drive.
7.5.2 The test shall be carried out on a rampway with a slope specified by the vehicle
manufacturer. If the specified slope is greater than 40%, a safety device shall be installed.
7.5.3 Park the vehicle on a straight-line segment close to the rampway area.
7.6 Hill Starting Ability Test in the Hybrid Mode
7.6.1 The hill starting ability test shall be performed on a rampway with a slope specified by
the vehicle manufacturer.
7.6.2 In the middle of the selected rampway, set up a measurement zone of at least 10 m. A
starting zone shall be provided in front of the measurement zone. The slopes of the starting zone
and the measurement zone shall be the same.
7.6.3 The test vehicle climbs to the starting zone and stably stops on the rampway by the
vehicle’s own braking system. Place the gear in P or N and turn off all power systems on the
vehicle for 2 minutes.
