4 Graphical symbols
Table 1 defines the common graphical symbols and gives the corresponding meanings
and descriptions of the symbols.
5 Application
5.1 When using this document, appropriate graphical symbols should be selected from
GB/T 10001.2~10001.9 according to the needs of specific locations and special
situations.
5.2 If it is necessary to design a new graphical symbol, appropriate general symbol
elements should be selected from GB/T 16903.2 first. The design should be carried out
in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 169031.The designed graphical symbol
should be tested in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 16900.2 and GB/T 16903.32.
5.3 The superscripts in the graphical symbol column of Table 1 do not constitute a
component of the graphical symbol, but are only the basis for defining the symbol area.
When designing the guide elements, the graphical symbols (including superscripts) in
Table 1 should be enlarged or reduced in proportion. The position of the graphical
symbol is determined based on the superscript. The superscript should not appear in
various guide elements in the end.
5.4 When using the graphical symbols in Table 1 to design guiding elements, the
provisions of GB/T 20501 (all parts) should be followed. The shape of the graphical
symbol should be square. When designing graphical symbols of different shapes
(square, circular or elliptical), the provisions of GB/T 16903 should be followed.
5.5 When designing location signs, the graphical symbols in Table 1 or their mirror
images should be used according to the orientation of the facilities in the actual scene.
5.6 When designing directional signs, the graphical symbols in Table 1 should be used,
rotated or mirrored according to the direction indicated by the "direction" symbol used
in combination with the graphical symbols to ensure that the direction implied by the
graphical symbols is consistent with the direction of the "direction" symbol.
5.7 The meanings given in Table 1 are only the general concepts of graphical symbols.
When using, you can give corresponding names according to the specific objects to be
expressed. For example, the graphical symbol meaning "coffee" can be given specific
names such as "cafe" or "coffee shop". At the same time, the English should also be
adjusted accordingly according to the specific Chinese name.
