1 Scope
This document specifies the general safety requirements and specific product safety
requirements for furniture intended for infants and children aged 0~14 years.
This document applies to the design, manufacture, sales service and quality safety
inspection and assessment of infants' furniture and children's furniture.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 28202-
2020 as well as the followings apply.
3.1 Products
3.1.1 infants' furniture
Furniture for infants and young children under 36 months old.

3.1.2 children's furniture
Furniture for children aged 3~14 years.
NOTE. It mainly includes study furniture (tables, chairs, stools) and children's bedroom furniture
(beds, wardrobes, storage tools, etc.).

3.1.3 children's high chair
infants' high chair
A free-standing chair for infants and toddlers between 6~36 months old who are able to
sit independently and can eat at a height close to the dining table.
NOTE. In ISO 9221-1.2015, the dining chair for infants aged 6~36 months is named children's high
chair.

3.1.4 tall desk/table product
Tables and desks with a total height of more than 1000 mm and equipped with a
bookshelf structure or similar structure.
3.1.5 bunk bed
Household and non-household bedding products with one or more layers of bed base
(3.4.1) with the upper surface not less than 600 mm above the ground, a width not more
than 1200 mm and a length not less than 1400 mm.
NOTE. It does not include special bedding products for prisons, firefighting, military, etc.

3.2 General structures
3.2.1 folding mechanism
A mechanism connected by hinges or swivels that may produce squeezing or shearing
effects during operation.
3.2.2 access zone
Under normal use, the parts that infants and young children can touch with their limbs
when the product is in its functional position; and the parts that children can touch with
their limbs by changing their own position or the position of the product.
4 General safety requirements
4.1 Materials
Wooden parts shall not be rotten or worm-eaten, and metal materials shall not be rusted.
4.2 Structures
4.2.1 Connection of removable, loosening components
Self-tapping screws, such as self-tapping screws, shall not be used for connections of
removable or loosening parts in infant furniture (including cribs, cots and folding beds).
NOTE. Self-tapping screws include wood screws, particleboard screws, etc.
4.2.2 Edges, points and outside corners
The edges, tips and outer corners of the product access zone shall comply with the
following requirements.
4.2.3 Protrusion
The product shall not have any hazardous protrusions without protective caps or covers.
For the protective caps or covers of hazardous protrusions, a pulling force of 70 N ± 2
N shall be applied evenly within 5 s in the direction that is most likely to be pulled off.
If it is maintained for 10 s, it shall not be pulled off.
4.2.4 Holes, gaps and openings
4.2.4.1 For holes and gaps with a depth of more than 10 mm on rigid parts within the
product access zone, the diameter or gap shall not be passed by a hemispherical finger
probe with a diameter of 7 mm (see Figure 8) with a force of 30 N; or shall be passed
by a hemispherical finger probe with a diameter of 12 mm (see Figure 8) without force.
If the diameter or gap is not less than 7 mm and less than 12 mm, use a shape assessment
probe (see Figure 9) with a force of 5 N. The insertion depth of the shape assessment
probe shall be not less than 10 mm and it shall be able to be pulled out under the action
of an opposing force of 5 N. The hemispherical finger probe and the shape assessment
probe are made of plastic or other hard and smooth materials. The end is connected to
a force measurement device.
4.2.4.2 The mesh fabric in the access zone of the product is tested with the mesh finger
probe shown in Figure 10.Under the action of the maximum force of 30 N, the 7 mm
diameter area of the mesh finger probe shall not enter the mesh. The mesh finger probe
is made of plastic or other hard and smooth material. For a cylinder with a diameter of
at one end and a radius of 2.8 mm ± 0.2 mm at the other end, the end is
connected to a force measuring device.
4.2.4.3 For completely bound openings in access zone of infants' furniture, other than
children's high chairs, the small head gauge shown in Figure 11 shall not pass under a
force of 30 N. If the small head gauge shown in Figure 11 passes, the large head gauge
shown in Figure 12 shall pass completely without the action of force. If the completely
bound opening through which the large head gauge passes contain partially bound
openings, V-shaped openings and openings of irregular shapes, the requirements of
4.2.4.5 shall be met. Small head gauge and large head gauge are made of plastic or other
hard and smooth materials. The size deviation of small head gauge is -0.5 mm~0 mm.
The size deviation of large head gauge is 0 mm~+0.5 mm.
4.2.4.4 The ports of exposed rigid tubular parts shall be closed. For parts that close the
openings of tubular parts and rigid holes (such as sealing covers or caps), a pulling force
of 70 N ± 2 N shall be applied within 5 s in the direction that is most likely to be pulled
off. If maintained for 10 s, it shall not be pulled off.
4.2.5 Squeeze and shear

Except for chairs in children's furniture, other products with castors shall have at least
two castors that can be locked or at least two non-castor support feet in normal use.
Children's high chairs shall comply with the provisions of 5.1.9.Cribs shall comply
with the provisions of 5.4.4.2.
4.2.9 Lifting device
The lifting device shall not rise or fall by itself or the lifting operation shall not be flexible.
4.2.10 Glass parts
Children's furniture shall not use glass parts except in areas more than 1600 mm above
the ground and other standing surfaces.
4.2.11 Stability
4.3 Flame retardant properties
The fabric, facing fabric and plastic covering of the product (including children's cots
and folding cots and their mattresses, cribs and their mattresses, sofas, etc.) shall have
a flame spread rate of no more than 30 mm/s when tested in accordance with the
provisions of 5.4 of GB 6675.3-2014, or the flame shall extinguish automatically before
reaching the second marking line. When tested in accordance with Annex B of GB
6675.3-2014, no surface flashing shall occur.
Mattresses for infants and children shall comply with the requirements of GB 17927.1- 2011.
4.4 Electrical safety
Electrical components in the product shall comply with the requirements of GB 4706.1.
4.5 Limits of hazardous substances
Hazardous substances in products shall comply with the provisions of GB 18584-2024.
4.6 Warning signs
4.6.1 After the warning signs on the products are tested according to the requirements
of 5.8 and 5.9 of GB/T 43002-2023, the characters on the labels shall be clearly legible
and shall not fall off or curl.
4.6.2 The font size of safety warnings such as "Danger", "Warning" and "Attention" in
warning words shall not be smaller than size 4 boldface. The warning content shall not
be smaller than size 5 boldface.
4.6.3 The following warning signs shall be displayed on the relevant products.
4.6.4 The following warning signs shall be included in the product instructions.
4.6.5 The plastic covering of packaging that does not meet the requirements of 4.10 of
GB 6675.2-2014 shall have a warning sign with similar meaning as follows.
To avoid choking hazard, remove plastic covering before using this item. This covering
shall be destroyed or kept away from infants and children.
5 Safety requirements for specific products
5.1 Requirements for children's high chair
5.1.1 Holes, gaps and openings
In the access zone of a children's high chair (except for the integral harness and waist
belt), holes, gaps or openings with a depth of not less than 10 mm shall comply with
the relevant provisions of 4.2.4.1.
When tested in accordance with 6.6.2 of GB/T 22793-2022, except for the seat entrance
and the two openings through which the user's legs pass, there shall be no holes, gaps
or openings on the seat surface through which the small torso plug gauge (see Figure 5
of GB/T 22793-2022) passes.
5.1.2 Moving parts
This requirement does not apply to the locking mechanism of the product.
The shear and squeeze points in the product shall comply with the following provisions.

The product shall be equipped with a backrest. Test according to 6.8.2 of GB/T 22793-
2022.The backrest height measured in the vertical position shall be no less than 250
mm.
5.1.7 Reclining backrest
Test according to 6.8.4 of GB/T 22793-2022.The position of the backrest of adjustable
products shall not be changed.
5.1.8 Front edge of seat
The fillet radius of the front edge of the seat upper surface shall not be less than 5 mm.
5.1.9 Castors or wheels
The product may be equipped with a maximum of 2 wheels or castors.
5.1.10 Structural integrity
After the impact resistance, seat strength, footboard strength, tray strength, etc. of the
product are tested in accordance with 6.2, 6.9, 6.10, 6.16.1, 6.16.2, and 6.16.3 of GB/T
22793-2022, the edges, openings, locking mechanisms, and stability of the product shall
meet the requirements. The product shall be intact.
5.1.11 Durability of locking mechanism
The test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of 6.3 of GB/T 22793-
2022.All locking mechanisms of the product shall maintain functional integrity.
5.1.12 Stability
5.1.13 Warning signs
5.2 Requirements for bunk beds
5.2.1 General requirements
The products shall comply with the following provisions.
5.2.3 Holes, voids, gaps and openings
When the holes, voids, gaps, and openings in access zones of the product are tested
according to 6.3 of GB/T 24430-2023, they shall comply with the following provisions.
5.2.4 Bed base
The product's bed base shall comply with the following regulations.
5.2.5 Safety barrier
Product safety barriers shall comply with the following regulations.
5.2.6 Access channels
5.2.7 Strength and durability of frames and fasteners
When tested according to 6.4.3 and 6.4.6 of GB/T 24430-2023, supporting fasteners
such as fasteners between bed posts and bed frames shall not be damaged or separated.
5.2.8 Stability
When tested according to 6.4.13 of GB/T 24430-2023, the product shall not tip over.
5.2.9 Fastening of bunk beds
When tested according to 6.4.14 of GB/T 24430-2023, the upper and lower parts of the
product shall remain intact.
5.2.10 Warning signs
5.3 Requirements for children's cots and folding cots
5.3.1 Initial stability
When tested in accordance with 6.2 of GB/T 43000-2023, the product shall not tip over.
5.3.2 Holes, gaps and openings inside children's cots
5.3.3 Head entrapment outside the children's cot
The completely bound opening on the outside of the children's cot shall comply with
the provisions of 4.2.4.3.When the lowest part of the opening is less than 100 mm from
the ground, children's cots with rigid structures as support frames and mesh or textile
fabrics on the sides and ends are not applicable.
5.3.4 Shear and squeeze points
The test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of 6.9.1 of GB/T 43000-
2023.The shear and squeeze points of the access zone during the use of the product
shall comply with the provisions of 4.2.5.1 before loading and during the last loading.
5.3.5 Protrusion points
When testing in accordance with 6.10 of GB/T 43000-2023, any part of the access zone
inside the children's cot shall not catch the ball of the test chain. The side and end
surfaces of the children's cot that are 1400 mm higher than the children's cot bed base
are considered not to be in the access zone.
5.3.6 Locking mechanism
5.3.7 Bed base
5.3.7.1 Folding mattress base and children's cot base
When tested in accordance with 6.7.1 of GB/T 43000-2023, any folding mattress base
and children's cot base shall not be folded.
5.3.8 Sides and ends of children's cots
5.3.9 Edges of children's cots
When tested in accordance with 6.6 of GB/T 43000-2023, no filling shall fall off the
edge of the children's cot.
5.3.10 Final stability
When tested according to the provisions of 6.12 of GB/T 43000-2023, the children's cot
shall not tip over.
5.3.11 Mattress size
When the children's cot is equipped with a mattress, the distance between the edge of
the mattress and the sides and ends of the children's cot shall not be greater than 30 mm
[see 5.3.12.2 l)].
5.3.12 Warning signs
5.4.1 Incline angle of bed base
Test according to 5.3.5.1 of QB/T 5659-2021.The angle between the bed base and the
horizontal plane shall not be greater than 2°. For products with adjustable bed bases,
test according to 5.3.5.2 of QB/T 5659-2021.The angle between the bed base and the
horizontal plane shall not be greater than 10°.
If the product's bed base can exceed this angle for storage purposes, the product shall
have a visible marking and related information to indicate the maximum angle setting
for use with an infant.
5.4.2 Holes, gaps and openings

5.4.5.1 Guardrail height
When tested in accordance with 5.3.10.1 of QB/T 5659-2021, the height from the upper
surface of the mattress or mattress base to the lowest point of the upper edge of the side
and end surfaces of the bed shall be no less than 200 mm.
If the mattress is not integrated with the bed and needs to be provided separately, the
height from the upper surface of the bed base to the lowest point of the upper edge of
the bed side and end surfaces shall be measured. The maximum thickness of the
mattress shall be subtracted.
For bedside sleepers, this requirement applies to all sides and ends when the bed base
is adjusted to the highest position.
5.4.5.4 Stability
When testing in accordance with 5.3.10.4 of QB/T 5659-2021, the product cannot be
completely tipped over.
5.4.5.5 Structural integrity of suspended cribs
When tested in accordance with 5.3.10.5 of QB/T 5659-2021, the device connecting the
bed base of the suspended crib to the supporting beam or similar structure shall not slip
completely or partially.
5.4.6 Anti-suffocation
5.4.7 Structural safety of bedside sleepers
5.4.8 Suspended crib safety
Connecting devices (such as hooks, etc.) above the sleeping area of a suspended crib
shall not be electroplated or coated.
5.4.9 Warning signs
5.5 Requirements for upholstered furniture
In addition to the general requirements, upholstered furniture for infants and children
shall also comply with the following requirements.
