In order to implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and promote the construction of environmental information, we now approve the Wastewater Category Code (Trial).
The six standards are national environmental protection standards and are released.
The standard name and number are as follows.
1. Wastewater Category Code (Trial) (HJ 520-2009);
2. Code of Wastewater Discharge (Trial) (HJ 521-2009);
3. “Type Code of Surface Water Environment Functional Zone (Trial)” (HJ 522-2009);
V. "Air Pollution Name Code" (HJ 524-2009);
6. "Water Pollutant Name Code" (HJ 525-2009).
The above standards have been implemented since April 1,.2010 and published by the China Environmental Science Press. The standard content can be found on the website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

Foreword
In order to implement the "Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China", prevent and control environmental pollution, improve environmental quality, and promote the construction of environmental information.
Establish and improve the environmental information standard system, provide technical support for environmental information processing and exchange, and standardize the classification and representation of wastewater discharge.
Develop this standard.
This standard is the first release.
This standard was formulated by the Science and Technology Standards Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
This standard is mainly drafted by. Information Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Anhui Environmental Information Center.
This standard was approved by the Ministry of Environmental Protection on December 30,.2009.

Wastewater discharge code
1 Scope of application
This standard defines the classification and code for the direction of wastewater discharge. Wastewater discharge includes industrial wastewater, domestic wastewater, sewage treatment facilities, and
Drainage of facilities such as landfills, composting plants, incineration plants, and hazardous waste disposal plants.
This standard applies to the management of wastewater discharge information collection, exchange, processing, use and environmental information system construction.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions established in HJ/T 416-2007 and HJ/T 417-2007, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this standard.

4 Wastewater discharge destination classification and coding method
Wastewater discharges are classified into 10 categories according to the surface classification method. The code is represented by an English capital letter and is encoded in alphabetical order.
