- Change the packing requirements (see Clause 6; 3.2 and 3.3 of the 2009 edition);
- Add packing requirements for carbon electrodes (see 6.3);
- Delete the safety line width requirements for graphite electrodes (see 4.1.1 of the
2009 edition);
- Delete the grade, weight and other requirements in the graphite electrode end
marking (see 4.2 of the 2009 edition);
- Add dangerous goods transport marks and package marking methods (see 7.2.3);
- Change storage and transport requirements (see Clause 8; Clause 5 of the 2009
edition);
- Add the requirements for fire prevention during the storage and transport of
carbonaceous material and products (see 8.6);
- Change the requirements for quality certificates (see Clause 9; Clause 6 of the 2009
edition).

3 Terms and definitions
There are no terms and definitions to be defined in this document.
4 General rules for packing
4.1 In order to ensure the quality and use performance of carbonaceous material and
products, and not to be damaged during handling, transport and storage; according to
the type, specification, performance, and mode of transport of carbonaceous material
and products; the packing materials and methods shall be determined, respectively.
4.2 The packing shall conform to the size of the product, to ensure that the product is
in a stable position in the packing and will not move or be damaged.
4.3 The packing shall be firm and not easily damaged, to ensure the normal use of the
product.
4.4 The packing shall meet the requirements of mechanical handling such as cranes and
forklifts.
4.5 The packing site, tools, materials, etc. shall be clean and tidy to avoid product
contamination.
5 Packing materials
5.1 It is recommended to use recyclable or degradable environmentally-friendly
materials as packing materials, including but not limited to the following materials:
wood; straw rope; iron box (drum); corrugated paper; corrugated carton (barrel); plastic
woven bag; foam plastic; plastic packaging film (bag); aluminum-plastic packaging bag;
paper bag; steel strip (galvanized steel strip, packing steel strip); plastic packing belt
(frame); plastic stretch film; plastic cloth; plastic tape; soft filler; container bag, etc.
5.2 Packing materials used for export product packing shall comply with relevant
regulations on export inspection and quarantine.
5.3 Packing materials shall comply with relevant standards or user requirements.
6 Packing requirements
6.1 General
The packing of carbonaceous material and products shall meet the requirements of
product protection, convenient transport, handling, and storage. For products
transported in containers, the shipping packing shall match the size of the container. If
the user has special requirements for packing materials and packing methods, it can be
implemented according to the agreement between the supplier and the purchaser.
6.2 Packing requirements for graphite electrodes
6.2.1 Graphite electrodes shall be packed in wooden boxes, wooden slats and bottom
brackets that meet the load-bearing requirements. The joint holes shall be protected
using foam plastic covers or corrugated cardboard covers, and reinforced with steel
straps. The contact surface between the steel strip and the electrode should be cushioned
with buffer materials such as corrugated cardboard.
6.2.2 The packing of each component shall be symmetrical and uniform. The wooden
components shall be connected in a staggered manner with steel nails. There shall be
no missing nails, rising nails, and protruding nail caps and tips. The steel strip shall be
tightly tied and shall not be loose.
6.2.3 The upper part of the bottom support shall have a block or wedge structure to
prevent the electrode from rolling. The lower part of the bottom support shall have a
The packing of graphite anode shall be carried out according to relevant standards.
6.7 Packing requirements for carbon blocks and graphite blocks for blast furnaces
6.7.1 Carbon blocks and graphite blocks for blast furnaces shall be packed in wooden
boxes and bottom brackets; and tied with steel strips. The inner lining is waterproof
with plastic cloth.
6.7.2 The space between the product and the wooden box shall be filled with soft fillers
such as corrugated paper or foam plastic. The wooden box shall be firm to prevent
loosening and bumping during transport.
6.8 Packing requirements for carburizers for steelmaking
6.8.1 According to the packing form, carburizers for steelmaking are divided into small
packages and container bags.
6.8.2 In the form of small package, the product can be put into a plastic bag and sealed
first; then put into a plastic woven bag or paper bag and sewed; or packed in a plastic
woven bag lined with plastic film and then tightly sewed.
6.8.3 For products directly packed in container bags, the container bags shall be lined
with plastic bags or lined with plastic film.
6.8.4 The packing process shall be done in a clean and dry environment.
6.9 Packing requirements for graphite-based negative electrode materials
6.9.1 According to the packing form, graphite-based negative electrode materials are
divided into small packages and container bags.
6.9.2 In the form of small package, the product can be put into a plastic packing bag
and sealed first; then packed into a corrugated carton (barrel).
6.9.3 For products directly packed in container bags, the container bags shall be lined
with plastic bags or plastic film. The container bags should not be filled to the brim. It
is recommended that each bag has a net weight of 500 kg.
6.9.4 The packing process shall be done in a clean and dry environment.
6.10 Packing requirements for activated carbon for supercapacitors
6.10.1 First put the product into a moisture-proof packing bag (it is recommended to
use a plastic sealed bag, aluminum-plastic sealed bag); then vacuum-seal it; then pack
it in a composite bag or plastic bucket, paper bucket, etc.
6.10.2 The packing environment shall meet the requirements of the product in terms of
temperature, humidity and other conditions. It shall not affect the product quality.
6.11 Packing requirements for other carbonaceous materials and products
6.11.1 When packing the product, it shall be fixed. The fragile parts shall be packed
with soft filler, to prevent loosening and damage during transport.
6.11.2 Bulk carbonaceous materials shall be packed in wooden boxes, iron boxes
(drums) or plastic woven bags lined with plastic cloth. There shall be no leakage.
7 Marking
7.1 Product marking
7.1.1 Marking for graphite electrode products
7.1.1.1 The finished graphite electrode shall be marked with a safety line on the surface
of the electrode corresponding to the bottom of the joint hole.
7.1.1.2 The safety line mark of the finished graphite electrode shall be uniform and clear.
There shall be no sticking phenomenon. There shall be no two or more safety line marks
on the same end.
7.1.1.3 The bottom of the joint hole of the finished graphite electrode shall be affixed
with a label. The label shall indicate the type, specification, bulk density, resistivity,
weight, production date, etc.

Finished carbon blocks shall be marked with materials that are not easy to fall off. The
marks shall be clear and firm.
7.2 Package marking
7.2.1 The package shall, on the obvious part of the outer surface, be marked with the
name of the manufacturer, product designation, model, specification, executed standard,
grade, quantity, gross weight, and net weight, etc. Each product shall be accompanied
by a certificate of conformity or a mark of conformity.
