Foreword
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 4094.2-2005 “electric vehicle-symbols for controls,
indicators and tell-tales”.
Compared with GB/T 4094.2-2005, in addition to editorial changes, the main
technical changes of this part are as follows.
--- Add marked instructions and non-marked instructions of symbols for
controls, indicators and tell-tales of electric vehicles; (see 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and
4.4);
--- Add the requirements of supplementing auxiliary information based on the
symbols (see 4.5);
--- Add the relevant provisions of symbol amendment (see 4.6);
--- Modify the relevant requirements of displaying color of tell-tales (see
Chapter 5, 2005 edition Chapter 5);
--- Modify the symbol for the state of charge of power storage battery (see
Table 1-No.1, Table 1-No.1 of 2005 edition);
--- Modify the ready symbol of driving system (see Table 1-No.2, Table 1-
No.7 of 2005 edition);
--- Add the limitation symbol of driving power (see Table 1-No.3);
--- Modify the connection symbol of external charging cable (see Table 1-
No.4, Table 1-No.6 of 2005 edition);
--- Modify the fault symbol of power storage battery (see Table 2-No.1, Table
1-No.3 of 2005 edition);
--- Modify the fault symbol of drive motor (see Table 2-No.2, Table 1-No.5 of
2005 edition);
--- Add the temperature symbol of power storage battery (see Table 2-No.4);
--- Add driving range symbol (see Table 3-No.1);
--- Add warning tone symbol for low speed of vehicles (see Table 3-No.2);
--- Add fixed time charging symbol (see Table 3, No.3);
--- Add the symbol for electric-only driving mode of hybrid electric vehicle
(see Table 3-No.4);
--- Delete the symbol for the height of liquid level of power storage battery
(see Table 1-No.2 of 2005 edition);
--- Delete the cutting off symbol of power storage battery (see Table 1-No.4
of 2005 edition);
--- Delete the symbol for fuse box entrance of motor circuit (see Table 1-No.9
of 2005 edition);
--- Delete the symbol for high voltage warning / electric shock hazard (see
Table 1-No.10 of 2005 edition);
--- Modify symbol figures (see Figure 1-Figure 10, Figure 1-Figure 10 of 2005
edition).

1 Scope
This part of GB/T 4094 specifies the unique symbols for controls, indicators and
tell-tales of electric vehicles and the basic requirements of tell-tales displaying
color.
This part applies to electric vehicles.
2 Normative references
The following documents are essential for the application of this document. For
dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated
references, the latest version (including all amendments) applies to this
document.

3 Terms and definitions
Terms and definitions defined in GB 4094, GB/T 4782, GB/T19596 apply to this
document.
4 Requirements
4.1 If electric vehicles are equipped with controls, indicators and tell-tales of
electric vehicles listed in Table 1, the corresponding symbols shall be marked.
Symbols shall be consistent with the provisions of this part.
--- Restricted by technical limitation that is inherent in display technology
such as instrument, display screen, etc.; or in order to increase the
recognizability of symbols, adjust the thickness and the gap of lines, the
proportion of graphics, arc and radian, lead angle and other details;
--- Color the outline of symbols, adjust and color the false or true of graphics
(except something explicitly prohibited in standard requirements);
--- For the symbols used to indicate overall shape or part shape of vehicles,
the outline drawing of symbols may be modified to approximate the true
shape of vehicles.
4.7 Other requirements of symbols shall be consistent with the provisions of GB
4094.
4.8 The principles of self-designed symbols and design of adding auxiliary
information shall be consistent with the provisions of GB 4094.
5 Displaying color of tell-tales
Symbols for tell-tales given in this part shall comply with the colors specified in
the provisions of this part. Besides, it is also allowed to use other colors
specified in GB 4094 to express different working conditions or meanings
according to different functional needs.
6 Shape of symbols
The shape of symbols that are only used for controls, indicators and tell-tales
of electric vehicles is shown in Figure 1 ~ Figure 12.

Foreword
This Standard is corresponding to ISO 2575. 2000/Amd.4. 2001 Road vehicles - Symbols
for controls, indicators and tell-tales, JEVS Z804. 1998 Symbols for controls, indicators
and tell-tales for electromobile. This Standard is not equivalent to ISO 2575 or JEVS Z
804.
This Standard is the supplement to GB 4094 Motor vehicles - Symbols for controls,
indicators and tell-tales. Electric vehicle is part of automobile; it shall meet the
requirements of GB 4094. This Standard provides symbols for controls, indicators and
tell-tales.
This Standard is a recommended national standard. This Standard is applicable to
symbols for controls, indicators and tell-tales of electric vehicle.
This Standard was proposed by NDRC (National Development and Reform Committee).
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Road
Vehicles of Standardization Administration of China.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the basic requirements, which are unique for electric vehicles (the
definition is shown in GB/T 19596-2004), about the symbols for controls, indicators and
tell-tales, and colors for tell-tales. This Standard is applicable to electric vehicles.
2 Normative References
The articles contained in the following documents have become part this Standard when
they are quoted herein. For the dated documents so quoted, all the modifications
(excluding corrections) or revisions made thereafter shall not be applicable to this
Standard. For the undated documents so quoted, the latest editions shall be applicable to
this Standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of GB/T 4782 and GB/T 19596, the following terms and definitions of this
Standard shall apply.
4 Requirements
4.1 The shape of symbols and display color of tell-tales, that are only used for controls,
indicator and tell-tales of electric vehicles, shall comply with the provisions of this
Standard.
4.2 Other requirements of symbols shall comply with the provisions of GB 4094.
5 Categories of Symbols and Display Color of Tell‐tales
