1 Scope
This Standard specifies the basic design requirements, technical requirements,
manufacture and installation, and test methods for the strops with no more than
4 passengers.
This Standard is applicable to the design, manufacture, installation and testing
of the strops.

3 Basic design requirements
3.1 The design of strops shall be properly calculated, reasonable in structure,
and ensure the safety of passengers.
shall be considered in accordance with the provisions of GB 50135-2006. The
ice cladding load calculation of wire ropes shall comply with the provisions of
Annex B. The wire ropes in the ice cladding state shall not be broken. The metal
structure of fixed wire ropes shall not be destabilized.
3.5 The safety factor of all components of the load-carrying cables, traction
cables, and gliding trolleys shall not be less than 5. The safety factor of the
metal structure of fixed wire ropes shall not be less than 3.5. The anti-
overturning safety factor shall be selected according to Table 4 of GB 8408-
2008.
3.6 The tower shall be designed in accordance with the provisions of GB
50017.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Wire rope
4.1.1 The load-carrying cables and traction cables shall comply with the
requirements of GB 8918. The load-carrying cables shall be made of wire
contact, galvanized wire ropes, and the diameter shall not be less than 12mm.
The traction cables shall be made of wire contact, fiber-core wire ropes, and
the diameter shall not be less than 6mm.
4.1.2 The load-carrying cables should be made of double ropes. Each load-
carrying cable shall be evenly stressed.
4.1.3 The load-carrying cables shall be provided with tension-adjusting gears
or tension adjustment measures. The fixed ends of the departure station and
destination station shall take effective anti-loosening measures and set up
secondary protection.
4.1.4 The wire fracture and wear of the load-carrying cables and traction
cables shall comply with the relevant requirements in Table 18 of GB 8408-2008.
4.1.5 The ratio of the bending diameter of the traction cable to the diameter
of the wire rope shall not be less than 30. The ratio of the bending diameter of
the wire rope used in the recovery device to the diameter of the wire rope shall
not be less than 20.
4.1.6 The load-carrying cables shall be replaced at least once every 6 years.
4.2 Pulleys and gliding equipment
4.2.1 Pulleys shall be equipped with a device to prevent them from falling off
the wire rope.
4.5.1 The stairs of the station tower shall be set up to facilitate the passengers'
collection and distribution. The dimensions shall comply with the requirements
of 7.8.4 of GB 8408-2008. The security fence shall comply with the provisions
of 7.8.1 of GB 8408-2008.
4.5.2 The departure station of the strop shall be set separately for the waiting
area and the departure area. The waiting area and the departure area shall take
isolation measures.
4.5.3 The waiting area of the strop departure station shall hang warning signs
that meet the requirements of the national standards, set passenger
instructions and shall clearly identify the passengers’ riding restrictions in the
passenger instructions. In addition, INDICATE the passenger entry action at a
prominent position.
4.5.4 The strop departure station shall be equipped with a safe and reliable
passenger release device.
4.5.5 Safety nets shall be added for protection when the height difference
BETWEEN the platform exit and entrance of the strop departure station and
destination station AND the adjacent ground (or water surface) is greater than
2m. The size of the protective net shall not be less than 2m (length) × 2m (width).
4.5.6 An anemometer shall be set at the top of the strop.
4.5.7 The strops shall be equipped with communication equipment such as
walkie-talkies or special telephones at both the departure and destination
stations.
4.6 Electrical requirements
The electrical requirements shall comply with the provisions of Clause 6 in GB
8408-2008.
5 Manufacture and installation
5.1 The requirements for the manufacture and installation of strops shall
comply with the relevant provisions of Clause 8 in GB 8408-2008.
5.2 The distance between the strop and the obstacle shall not be less than
1.5m. When the span is less than 360m, the distance between adjacent strops
shall not be less than 1.5m. When the span is not less than 360m, the distance
between adjacent strops shall not be less than 2.0m. When strop crosses a
pedestrian passage, the height of the load-carrying cable from the ground shall
not be less than 6.5m. When strops cross roads, railways, wires, navigable
rivers and lakes, they shall not affect each other.
