Foreword
This Standard was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This Standard replaced GB/T 18983-2003 Oil-Hardened and Tempered Steel Wire for
Mechanical Springs. Compared with GB/T 18983-2003, this Standard has the major
changes as follows.
--- Increase “GB/T 4336, GB/T 13298, GB/T 20123, GB/T 20125” to the Normative
References;
--- Increase “ultra-high-strength’ level to the Classification and Code;
--- Modify the diameter range;
--- Increase the components to the new types of TDSiCr-B, TDSiCr-C and VDSiCrV
to the chemical compositions;
--- Modify “maximum surface decarburization allowable depth”;
--- Increase the mechanical property indexes of TDSiCr-B, TDSiCr-C to “mechanical
properties of steel wires in static grade and medium fatigue grade”;
--- Increase the mechanical property indexes of VDSiCrV to “mechanical properties
of steel wire in high fatigue grade”;
--- Modify “allowable maximum depth of surface defect”; add description of the acid
leaching test method.
This Part was prepared by using the redrafted law and referring to ISO 8458-3.2002
Steel Wire for Mechanical Springs – Part 3. Oil-Hardened and Tempered Wire; the
degree of consistency with ISO 8458-3.2002 is not equivalent.
This Standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Industry Association.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee for
Standardization of Steel (SAC/TC 183).
