Foreword
GB/T 13277 "Compressed air" is divided into the following 9 parts:
- Part 1: Contaminants and purity classes;
- Part 2: Test methods for oil aerosol content;
- Part 3: Test methods for testing of humidity;
- Part 4: Test methods for solid particle content;
- Part 5: Test methods for oil vapor and organic solvent content;
- Part 6: Test methods for the content of gaseous contaminants;
- Part 7: Test methods for the content of active microorganisms;
- Part 8: Test methods for the mass concentration of solid particles;
- Part 9: Test methods for liquid water content.
This part is part 1 of GB/T 13277.
This part modifies and adopts ISO 8573-1:2001 "Compressed air - Part 1:
Contaminants and purity classes" (English version).
This part was redrafted in accordance with ISO 8573-1:2001.
Considering the national conditions of China, this part made some modifications
when adopting ISO 8573-1:2001. Relevant technical differences have been
incorporated into the text, which are marked with vertical single lines in the
margins of the clauses they involve.
For ease of use, this part also made the following editorial changes:
- CHANGE the word "this International Standard" to "this part";
- USE the decimal point “.” to replace the comma “,” which was used as the
decimal point;
- USE the “MPa” to replace “bar” for pressure unit;
- DELETE the preface to ISO 8573-1:2001.
This part is a revision of the original GB/T 13277-1991 " Compressed air for
general use - Quality classes".
Compressed air - Part 1: Contaminants and purity
classes
1 Scope
This part of GB/T13277 specifies the purity classes of particles, moisture and
trace oil in compressed air.
This part also considers microorganisms and gaseous contaminants.
The gaseous contaminants referred in this part include: carbon monoxide,
carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, hydrocarbons with
carbon atoms from C1 to C5.
Note: For some special applications (such as breathing, pharmaceutical, food and
beverage air), it shall consider other contaminants.
2 Normative references
The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this part
through reference in this part of GB/T 13277. For the dated references, the
subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to
this part; however, parties who reach an agreement based on this part are
encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable.
For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.

The terms and definitions established in GB/T 108931) and JB/T 7664 are
applicable to this part of GB/T 13277.
4 Testing of contaminants
In order to evaluate the purity class of contaminants in compressed air samples,
it shall select the corresponding part from the ISO 8573 for the testing method:
- Part 2: Test methods for aerosol oil content;
- Part 3: Test methods for testing of humidity;
- Part 4: Test methods for solid particles;
- Part 5: Test methods for oil vapor and organic solvent content;
- Part 6: Test methods for gaseous contaminant content;
- Part 7: Test method for viable microbiological content;
- Part 8: Test methods solid for particle mass concentration;
- Part 9: Test methods for liquid water content.
The testing shall follow the following rules:
- During the testing, it shall take sample multiple times over an appropriate
period of time;
