Foreword
All contents in this Standard are compulsory.
This Standard is modified in relation to ECE R61 (00 Series, 1984) “Uniform provisions for
the approval of commercial vehicles with regard to their external projections forward of the
cab's rear panel” (English version).
This Standard was redrafted according to ECE R61. Annex B lists out the correlation of the
chapter numbering in this Standard and ECE R61.
The following changes have been made in this Standard to the technical requirements of
ECE R61:
a) Content concerning “Approval Procedure and Approval Mark” in Clause 3, 4, Annex 1
and Annex 2 of ECE R61 was not incorporated into this Standard, for reason of the
difference between our national standard system and European Regulation system;
b) Paragraph 5.1.1 in ECE R61 “parts situated 2.00 m above the ground or lower than the
reference plane or the floor line” was changed into “Parts that are situated 1.80 m
above the ground or lower than the reference plane or the floor line” in this Standard.
In order to facilitate the usage of this Standard, the following editorial changes have been
made over ECE R61:
a) “This Regulation” was changed into “This Standard”;
b) “cm” was changed into “mm”;
c) Informative Annex B was added.
Annexes A and B of this Standard are informative.
Proposal for the implementation date of this Standard:
For the products newly applying for type approval, this Standard comes into effect on April 1,
2007; for the products that have been type-approved, this Standard comes into effect on
April 1, 2009.
This Standard was proposed by the National Development and Reform Commission.
This Standard shall be under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee of Auto
Standardization.

The Cab of Commercial Vehicles -- External Projections
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the terms, general provisions, special provisions and inspection
methods for external projection of the cab of commercial vehicles.
This Standard applies to Category N vehicles. However, it does not apply to the exterior
rear view mirrors, and the mirror support arm, aerials and luggage racks.
2 Normative references
The following Standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute
provisions of this Standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (corrigenda
excluded) to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to
agreements based on this Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying
the most recent editions of the Standards indicated below. For undated references, the
latest edition of the normative documents referred to applies.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this Standard.
3.1
External surface
It means that part of the vehicle forward of the cab rear panel as defined in Paragraph 3.3
below, with the exception of the rear panel itself, and includes such items as the front wings,
front bumpers and front wheels.
3.2
Cab
It means that part of the bodywork which constitutes the driver and passenger compartment,
including the doors.
3.3
Cab rear panel
It means the rearmost part of the external surface of the driver and passenger compartment.
Where it is not possible to determine the position of the rear cab panel, for the purposes of
this Standard it would be deemed to be the vertical transversal plane situated 500 mm to
the rear of the R Point of the driver seat, with the seat, if adjustable, located at its
rearmost driving position (See Annex A). If the cab is fitted with more than one row of
