This standard is the revision of GB 17440-1998 “Safety regulations for the protection of dust explosion for grain processing, storage and transportation system” based on the dust explosion-proof practical experience of China's grain storage and transportation, processing system in recent years. This standard replaces GB 17440-1998 “Safety regulations for the protection of dust explosion for grain processing, storage and transportation system”. As compared with GB 17440-1998, main changes of this standard are as follows. - In the Scope, ADD that “it does not apply to grain drying device”; - ADD the terms of dust release source and explosive dust atmosphere; - CHANGE the dust explosion hazardous zone classification into zone 20, 21 and 22; - ADD the dust explosion hazardous zoning of the relevant places of the plant oil factory; - The choice of electrical device is divided into type A device and type B device; - MODIFY the requirements for building (structure) in accordance with the relevant fire protection code; - CHANGE the contents related to ventilation and dedusting into the “Dust control” chapter; - ADD the “Pneumatic conveying” chapter; - ADD the requirements of radiation device and ultrasonic device; - CHANGE the original chapter “Management” into “Operational safety management”; - CHANGE the original Appendix A “Grain dust characteristics table” into the Appendix B “Grain dust characteristics table”; Safety regulations for the protection of dust explosion for grain processing, storage and transportation system 1 Scope This standard specifies the basic requirements for the protection of dust explosion for grain processing, storage and transportation system. This standard applies to the whole process of design, construction, production and management of newly built, extended, and reconstructed projects which may have grain dust explosion hazardous places in the grain processing, storage and transportation process. This standard does not apply to grease leaching plant and grain drying device. 2 Normative references The provisions in following documents become the provisions of this Standard through reference in this Standard. For the dated references, the subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) or revisions do not apply to this Standard; however, parties who reach an agreement based on this Standard are encouraged to study if the latest versions of these documents are applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies. GB 12476.1 Electrical apparatus for use in the presence of combustible dust - Part 1-1. Electrical apparatus protected by enclosures and surface temperature limitation - Specification for electrical apparatus (GB 12476.1- 2000, idt IEC 61241-11.1999) GB 12476.2-2006 Electrical apparatus for use in the presence of combustible dust - Part 1-2. Electrical apparatus protected by enclosures and surface temperature limitation - Selection, installation and maintenance of electrical apparatus (IEC 61241-1.1999, IDT) GB/T 15604 Terminology for dust explosion prevention GB 50016 Code of design on building fire protection and prevention GB 50057 Design code for protection of structures against lightning 5 Process device 5.1 Process design 5.1.1 Grain processing, storage and transportation system design shall follow the principle of overall fortification, AND be in strict compliance with the technical requirements for dust explosion prevention. 5.1.2 The design documents shall clearly state the zoning of the grain dust explosion hazardous zone in the design, AND propose a clear and specific measures and methods for dust explosion prevention on the building structure, process selection, device type selection and layout, dust control, electrical and management, etc. 5.1.3 It is preferable for the device prone to dust explosion to be arranged outdoors; however, if it is arranged indoor, it is preferable for it to be at a higher position in the building AND close to the exterior wall. 5.1.4 Process piping and dedusting network shall not be through unrelated buildings. There shall be no unrelated pipes passing through dangerous areas. 5.1.5 It is not preferable for the process pipeline and dedusting network to be laid in multiple layers in the same rack with the heat pipe. When they are laid in multiple layers in the same rack with utilities pipelines, it is preferable to place the pipeline having a medium temperature higher above normal temperature at the upper layer, AND to take thermal insulation measures. 5.2 Machinery and device 5.2.1 General requirements 5.2.1.1 For the stationary machinery and device used in hazardous areas of grain dust explosion, it is preferable to take explosion-proof measures. When using the explosion pressure venting method, it is preferable for the venting port to be lead outdoor to a safe direction through the pipeline. 5.2.1.2 The observation window (door), removable cover (door), and ventilation holes can be regarded as explosion pressure venting port. 5.2.1.3 The highest level of material in the device or silo shall not exceed the lower edge of the venting port. The venting ports shall be located so that they will not make the surroundings be exposed to flames and gas hazards. Explosion pressure venting process shall not endanger personnel or limit the operation of safety-related device. 5.2.2.2 Screw conveyor - Spiral shall be flexible, its clearance with the housing shall comply with requirements, AND it shall be free from scratching or jamming. 5.2.2.3 Buried scraper conveyor - Scraper chain shall correctly engage when running into the head pulley, AND it shall be free from chain jamming or jumping. 5.2.2.4 Roller belt conveyor and air cushion belt conveyor - Conveyor belt shall run smoothly, the deviation is in the specified range, AND the belt shall not direct scratch the bracket and cover. 5.2.3 Measuring device - It shall provide the air balancing device ensuring the scale inside pressure balance and avoiding dust fly in between the discontinuous weighing scale’s upper hopper and lower hopper, AND it is preferable to connect it to the dust control system. 5.2.4 Cleaning device - Mesh shall be smooth, there shall be no congestion. 5.2.5 Dedusting device - The type and structure of dust collector shall meet the dust control requirements; - It is preferable for the dust collector to take the explosion pressure venting method, with sufficient pressure venting area; - Explosion-proof membrane shall ensure the sealing, AND it shall be able to withstand the maximum suction pressure produced by the fan at different conditions. 5.2.6 Processing device 5.2.6.1 When the grain enters high-speed rotating device for grinding, crushing, cutting and shelling, etc., the device for magnetic separation to remove metal impurities and the cleaning device to remove inorganic impurities and other impurities shall be provided before these devices. 5.2.6.2 It shall close in time the non-operating circuit (including the branch), so as to prevent the accident from spreading in case of fault. 6.2.8 It shall use the dust explosion-proof type lighting device in the zone 20, 21 and 22. AND the net distance between the lighting fixture and the grain shall not be less than 500 mm. 6.2.9 It is not preferable to use the mobile electrical device in zone 20, 21 and 22. If it is necessary to use mobile electrical device, it shall use the YC or YCW rubber cable. 6.3 Cabling 6.3.1 Cables (wires) that are not related to dangerous area shall, as far as possible, not pass through dangerous areas. If unavoidable, they shall comply with the provisions of electrical wiring in dangerous dust explosion areas. 6.3.2 The types of cabling used in zone 20, 21 and 22 may be. - The cable shall be laid in a seamless or seam welded steel pipe with a threaded connection; - Cable itself has sufficient mechanical strength, AND is able to prevent mechanical damage and combustible dust intrusion. 6.3.3 Cable systems and accessories shall be installed at locations, as far as possible, free from mechanical damage, corrosion, chemical effects and thermal effects. If unavoidable, it shall be installed in a conduit or select the appropriate cable. 6.3.4 If the cable or conduit system is subject to vibration, it shall be designed into a structure which can... ......
