This document replaces GB/T 5453-1997 Textiles - Determination of the permeability of fabrics to air. Compared with GB/T 5453-1997, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows. -- The sample pretreatment is added (see 5.2); -- The requirements for calibration tools are added (see 7.6); -- The recommended pressure difference for household textiles is added to the test conditions (see Chapter 8); -- The calibration process is added (see 9.1); -- The requirements that the front side shall face the air inlet in the test and the test surface shall be indicated in the report are added (see 9.2); -- The operations related to fixture leakage are deleted (see 9.5 of the 1997 edition); -- The rounding of air permeability is modified, and the rounding of air permeability variation coefficient is added (see Chapter 10; see 10.2 of the 1997 edition); -- Confidence intervals and the presentation of results using differential pressure flowmeter instruments are deleted (see 10.3 and 10.4 of the 1997 edition). This document is modified in relation to ISO 9237.1995 Textiles - Determination of the permeability of fabrics to air. Compared with ISO 9237.1995, this document has the following structural adjustments. -- 7.2 corresponds to 7.2 and 7.3 of ISO 9237.1995, the subsequent article numbers are adjusted forward in order, and 7.6 and 7.7 are added; -- 9.2, 9.3 and 9.4 correspond to Chapter 9 of ISO 9237.1995; -- 10.2 corresponds to 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 of ISO 9237.1995; -- Appendix A corresponds to Appendix B of ISO 9237.1995; -- Appendix A of ISO 9237.1995 is deleted. Textiles - Determination of the permeability of fabrics to air 1 Scope This document describes a method for determining the air permeability of fabrics. This document applies to a wide range of textile fabrics and products, including clothing fabrics, household fabrics and technical fabrics. 2 Normative references The provisions of the following documents constitute the essential clauses of this document through normative references in this text. Among them, for referenced documents with dates, only the versions corresponding to the dates are applicable to this document; for referenced documents without dates, the latest versions (including all amendments) are applicable to this document. GB/T 6529 Textiles - Standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing (GB/T 6529-2008, ISO 139.2005, MOD) GB/T 8170 Rules of rounding off for numerical values & expression and judgment of limiting values GB/T 8629-2017 Textiles - Domestic washing and drying procedures for textile testing (ISO 6330.2012, MOD) 3 Terms and definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 air permeability The velocity of airflow passing vertically through the specimen under the specified sample area, pressure difference and time conditions. 4 Principle Under the specified pressure difference conditions, the airflow rate vertically passing through the specified area of the specimen within a certain period of time is measured and then the air permeability is calculated. 5 Specimen preparation 5.1 Sampling Sampling shall be carried out according to the procedures specified in the product standard or the agreement of the parties concerned. Representative parts shall be selected for testing. The sampling part shall not have creases, wrinkles, holes, dirt or other abnormalities, and shall be at least 150 mm away from the edge of the fabric. In the absence of regulations, refer to Appendix A for sampling. 5.2 Pretreatment If necessary, follow the provisions of the 4N program for type A washing machines in GB/T 8629-2017, use "Standard detergent 3" as the detergent, wash three times in a row and hang to dry, add detergent once, or wash according to the method, drying conditions and number of times agreed upon by the interested parties. 6 Standard atmosphere for conditioning and testing The standard atmosphere used for conditioning and testing shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 6529. 7 Equipment 7.1 Specimen round table. Circular vent holes of 5 cm2, 20 cm2, 50 cm2, 100 cm2 or other test areas can be provided, and the tolerance of the test area shall not exceed ±0.5%. NOTE. For vent holes of larger test areas, there are generally appropriate specimen support meshes. 7.2 Clamping device. It is used to fix the specimen, which can firmly fix the specimen on the specimen round table without deformation, and ensure that the edge of the specimen does not leak. For some equipment, rubber gaskets can be used to prevent leakage. NOTE. Generally, rubber sheets with a thickness of 2.5 mm and a hardness of (65~70) IRHD (measured according to GB/T 6031) are used. 7.3 Pressure sensor or pressure gauge. It is connected to the specimen round table and used to test the pressure difference on both sides of the specimen, expressed in Pa (or mmH2O), and the tolerance shall not exceed ±2%. 7.4 Negative pressure device. It provides a stable pressure difference for the airflow to pass vertically through the test area of the specimen, and provides a pressure difference of 50 Pa~500 Pa (about 5 mmH2O~50 mmH2O) between the upper and lower surfaces of the specimen by appropriately adjusting the air velocity. 7.5 Flow meter, volume counter or other measuring instruments. It is used to measure the airflow rate through the specified area, expressed in dm3/min (L/min). The tolerance shall not exceed ±2%. NOTE. It can also be expressed in dm3/s (or other equivalent units), with a tolerance of no more than ±2%. 7.6 Calibration plate or other tool. It is used to check the test equipment, made of durable material, with a known air permeability value or air permeability range under a specified pressure difference and area. 7.7 Device for calculating and displaying test results. 8 Test conditions The recommended test conditions are. Test area 20 cm2 Pressure difference 100 Pa Clothing and household fabrics 200 Pa Technical fabrics If the above pressure difference or area is not applicable, 50 Pa, 500 Pa or other pressure differences may be selected after consultation among the relevant parties, and 5 cm2, 50 cm2, 100 cm2 or other test areas may also be selected. The test area and pressure difference used shall be stated in the report. NOTE. To compare test results, use the same test area and pressure difference. 9 Test steps 9.1 Use the calibration plate (7.6) to calibrate the instrument (if used frequently, it can be checked once a day). 9.2 If there are no special requirements, the specimen can be placed on the specimen round table (7.1) with its front side facing the air inlet. The specimen can be fixed with the clamping device (7.2). Sufficient tension shall be applied during clamping to make the specimen flat and not deformed to prevent distortion of the specimen or gas leakage at the edge during the test. The test surface should be indicated in the test report [11 b)]. 9.3 Start the negative pressure device (7.4) and adjust the air velocity until the required .......Source: https://www.ChineseStandard.net/PDF.aspx/GBT5453-2025 |
