Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009. This standard replaces GB/T 3325-2008 “General technical requirements for metal furniture”. As compared with GB/T 3325-2008, the main changes are as follows. - MODIFY the scope, DEFINE the scope of non-application of this standard (see clause 1; clause 1 of the 2008 version); - MODIFY some of the normative references; - ADD the terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 28202-2011, ADD the terms and definitions for edge banding of wood-based panel and bonding surface [translator note. it shall be interface] (see 3.7; 3.8 of the 2008 version); - ADD clause 4.provisions for classification (see clause 4); - MODIFY the size requirements of the bookcase (file cabinet), ADD the size requirements of the cabinet base plate, MODIFY the size requirements of the bunk bed (see 5.1; 4.1.1 of the 2008 version); - DELETE the depth requirements and test methods of drawer (see 4.2 and 5.3.10 of the 2008 versions); - DELETE the high & low dimensional requirements of the weldment crater’s corrugation as well as the high & low dimensional requirements of the corrugation at the bending locations of the round and flat tube; MODIFY the soft & hard package requirements into soft package and plastic parts, MODIFY the requirements of the glass parts (see 5.3; 4.3 of the 2008 version); - MODIFY the standard’s structure; based on the principle of standardized performance, RE-CLASSIFY the contents of other requirements, respectively INCLUDE them into the appearance performance, physical and chemical properties and safety performance (see 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5; see 4.4 of the 2008 version); - MODIFY the safety performance, CLASSIFY the safety performance into structural safety, hazardous substance limits and combustion safety. ADD the drop-proof requirements for push-pull members, hole clearance requirements and anti-slip requirements for vertical sliding parts, CLASSIFY the requirements and test methods of volatile hazardous substances (see 5.4; 4.5 of the 2008 version); General technical requirements for metal furniture

1 Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection procedures, inspection rules, marking, instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage of metal furniture. This standard applies to metal furniture products which use the metal materials as the main structure. The furniture which uses components of other metal materials may make reference to this standard.

3 Terms and definitions

The terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 28202-2011 as well as the following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Metal furniture A furniture which mainly uses the metal pipes, plates, and other profiles to constitute the frame or component, together with the parts and components which are made of wood, wood-based panels, leather, textile fabrics, plastics, glass, stone, and other auxiliary materials, or furniture which is made entirely of metal materials. 4 Classification

It is classified by the place of use. a) Metal furniture for indoor use; b) Metal furniture for outdoor use.

5 Requirements

5.1 Main dimensions and deviations The main dimensions and deviations of the products shall comply with the requirements of Table 1. 6 Test methods

6.1 Determination of main dimensions and dimensional deviations Place the test piece on a flat plate or flat ground surface, use a steel tape measure or steel ruler which has an accuracy of not less than 1 mm per meter to perform the test. The dimensional deviation is the difference between the product’s design size (identified value) and the measured value. 6.2 Determination of shape and position tolerance 6.2.1 Vertical degree of adjoining side Use a steel ruler or steel tape measure which has an accuracy of not less than 1 mm, to measure the two diagonals and the length of the opposite side of the rectangular plate or frame, the difference is the measured value of the vertical degree of adjoining side. 6.2.2 Warpage It shall use the warpage measuring instrument with an accuracy of not less than 0.1 mm. Select the panel with the most warpage, place the measuring instrument on the diagonal of the panel, to measure the maximum distance as the measured warpage value. 6.2.3 Plane deviation Use a steel tape measure or steel ruler which has an accuracy of not less than 1 mm per meter, to measure the height of the midpoint of each group of opposite sides of the rectangular table above ground; for the round table surface, measure the height of the highest point on the circumference above the ground as well as the height of the other symmetrical point which passes through the circle’s center above the ground, the ratio of their difference to the side length or diameter is the evaluation value of the plane deviation. the value of the left-and-right swing of the drawer side is the evaluated value of the sag and swing. 6.2.9 Landing stability of foot Place the test piece on the flat plate or the flat ground surface, so that the test piece touches the ground on three feet, use a feeler gauge to measure the distance between the other foot and the flat plate. 6.3 Determination of appearance performance 6.3.1 Decolorization, color loss In the outward appearance of the product or in the internal finishing locations, respectively check 3 positions, use hand to hold the wet degreased white gauze to wipe each position back and forth for three times with appropriate force. The reciprocating distance of the wiping is 200 mm ~ 300 mm. Observe whether the gauze is stained by the color from the finished part. 6.3.2 Glass parts Under the natural light of near natural light (for example, 40 W fluorescent lamps) in the illuminance range of 300 lx ~ 600 lx, at a position 600 mm from the specimen, carry out visual inspection. In accordance with the measurement needs, the defect size is measured by a steel ruler or tape measure which has an accuracy of not less than 1 mm as well as a vernier caliper which has an accuracy of 0.02 mm. 6.3.3 Others Under the natural light of near natural light (for example, 40 W fluorescent lamps) in the illuminance range of 300 lx ~ 600 lx, within the sight distance 700 mm ~ 1000 mm, arrange three persons to inspect it jointly, use most of the same conclusions as inspection results. 6.4 Determination of safety performance 6.4.1 Structural safety 6.4.1.1 Determination of holes and gaps In accordance with the force value shown in Table 8 and the slip gauge measurement by cone diameter, observe whether the cone can pass. 7 Inspection procedures

It is performed in accordance with the principles that the previous inspection has no impact or minimal impact onto the subsequent inspection results.

8 Inspection rules

8.1 Classification of inspection The inspection is divided into two types. exit-factory inspection and type inspection. 8.2 Exit-factory inspection The exit-factory inspection is the inspection carried out when the product is exit- factory or the product is delivered. The product can only be sold after passing the exit-factory inspection. 8.2.1 Exit-factory inspection items The exit-factory inspection items are the following contents of this standard. a) Main dimensions and their deviations; b) Shape and position tolerances; c) Requirements for appearance performance; 8.3.1 Type inspection items Type inspection is a comprehensive assessment of the quality of the product, that is, all the items related to the product as specified in clause 5 are inspected (when the entrusting party does not provide the relevant contract requirements, the contract-required items as specified in this standard are not in the routine type inspection item). When items other than those specified in clause 5 are required to be inspected, it shall provide enterprise’s product standard provisions or the contractual provisions of the product, the inspection shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant standards or contracts provided. 8.3.2 Timing of type inspection Type inspection shall be carried out in one of the following cases. a) When the trans-plant production of new product or old product is subject to trial production for finalization; b) After formal production, if there are major changes in structure, materials and processes, which may affect product performance; c) During normal production, periodically or after accumulating a certain amount of production, the inspection shall be carried out periodically, the inspection period is generally one year; d) When the production is resumed after suspension for more than half a year; e) When the exit-factory inspection result is significantly different from the results of previous type inspection; f) When the national quality supervision agency requests the type inspection. 8.3.3 Sampling rules for type inspection In one inspection cycle, randomly take 2 samples from the recently produced products, one for inspection and one retained. 8.3.4 Test methods of type inspection It is performed in accordance with the provisions of clause 6.The specimens for the surface coating/covering material test shall generally be obtained directly from the product under inspection, or be made under the same process conditions as the product under inspection. 8.3.5 Assessment of type inspection results 8.3.5.1 For the inspection results of single product, if the basic items are all

(Normative) Annual average wood’s equilibrium moisture content in various regions of China The annual average wood’s equilibrium moisture content of the product in the area of the product shall be assessed using the values of each region in Table A.1 as the basis for assessment.
