Introduction
Conductive charging is the basic way to realize electric energy supply for electric vehicles.
GB/T 20234 aims to standardize the technical requirements and test methods of charging
connection devices and unify the interface type and structural size of charging interfaces,
thereby realizing the interconnection between electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
GB/T 20234 is planned to consist of the following 4 parts.
--- Part 1.General requirements. It aims to establish the general performance requirements
for charging connection devices and ensure the functionality and reliability of the product.
--- Part 2.AC charging coupler. It aims to establish the contact definition, contact connection
interface, structural dimensions, etc. of the AC charging coupler to achieve the
interchangeability of the AC charging coupler.
--- Part 3.DC charging coupler. It aims to establish the contact definition, contact connection
interface, structural dimensions, etc. of the DC charging coupler (including high-power
charging) to achieve the interchangeability of the DC charging coupler.
--- Part 4.High-power DC charging coupler. It aims to establish the composition, coupler
function and layout, cable requirements, thermal management system, technical
requirements, test methods, etc. of the DC charging connection device, as well as the
definition, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, etc. of the adapter.
In order to cover more charging scenarios, it is necessary to expand the rating of the DC
charging coupler to meet the use requirements of high-power DC charging and low-power DC
charging, respectively.
As the physical connection interface between electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, the
charging coupler needs to maintain compatibility and interchangeability with already produced
electric vehicles and built charging equipment.
Connection Set for Conductive Charging of Electric Vehicles
– Part 3.DC Charging Coupler
1 Scope
This Document specifies the general requirements, ratings, connection interface, contact
arrangement, contact function, model, structural dimensions and other requirements for the DC
charging coupler for conductive charging of electric vehicles.
This Document applies to DC charging couplers with rated voltage not exceeding DC 1500V
and rated current (continuous maximum operating current) not exceeding 800 A.
2 Normative References
The provisions in following documents become the essential provisions of this Document
through reference in this Document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates
indicated are applicable to this Document; for the undated documents, only the latest version
(including all the amendments) is applicable to this Document.
GB/T 19596 Terminology of electric vehicles

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this Document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 19596, GB/T
20234.1 and GB/T 29317 apply.
4 General Requirements
4.1 The technical requirements and test methods of the DC charging coupler shall comply with
the provisions of GB/T 20234.1.
4.2 The control guidance circuit and control principle applicable to the DC charging coupler
shall meet the requirements of relevant standards or documents.
4.3 The communication protocol applicable to the DC charging coupler shall meet the
requirements of relevant standards or documents.
5 Ratings
The ratings of the DC charging coupler shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
6 Connection Functions
6.1 Connection interface and contact arrangement
The connection interface and contact arrangement of the vehicle plug and vehicle socket shall
comply with the provisions of Figures 1 and 2, respectively.
