safety devices.
1.2 This Part is applicable to the following bursting disc safety devices.
— The bursting disc safety devices used for pressure vessels, pressure pipes or
other sealing pressure equipment (hereafter referred to as “pressure equipment”)
to prevent the overpressure or excess vacuum;
— The bursting pressure of bursting discs is not greater than 500MPa and not less
than 0.001MPa.

reaching reaction rate at detonation degree.
— Bursting disc safety devices under the special requirements in the defence
military equipment.
Note. Phenomenon that is generated very differently from the common burning and explosion
when the burning rate of the material is quickly, above 1 000m/s, is known as detonation.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Pressure
Unless otherwise stated, pressure all refers to the gauge pressure.
3.2
Bursting disc safety device
It refers to the pressure relief safety device that is composed of such assemblies as
bursting disc (or bursting disc assembly) and bursting disc holder (or supporting ring).
The bursting disc will act (crack or fall off) and discharge the pressure medium
immediately when the pressure difference between both sides of the bursting disc
reaches the pre-set value at the pre-set temperature.
3.3
Bursting disc
It refers to the pressure sensitive device that is in the bursting disc device and is able
to act rapidly due to overpressure.
3.4
Bursting disc assembly
It refers to the assembly combined by two or more such parts as bursting disc, back
pressure support, stiffening ring and anticorrosion lining, which is also called
assemble-type bursting disc.
3.5
Conventional domed bursting disc (also referred to as. forward-acting)
The pressure sensitive device acts like a conventional domed shape. The concave
surface of the dome is located at the high pressure side of the pressure system after
installation. The tensile failure will occur on this device when it actuates.

standards and design drawings. Only the qualified materials may be used.
5.5 As for the bursting discs that are frequently used in the corrosive environment or
the environment that may lead to the failure of bursting discs in advance, measures
such as plating, spray coating or lining on the surface of bursting discs may be adopted
to prevent the corrosion failure of bursting discs.
6 Design
6.1 Bursting pressure
6.1.1 The specified bursting pressure of bursting disc safety devices shall be
determined by the designer of sealing pressure equipment according to the bearing

pressure equipment.
6.1.4 If the design drawings or product nameplates of sealing pressure equipment
marked with the maximum allowable service pressure, for the determination of bursting
pressure of bursting discs, design pressure of pressure equipment may be superseded
by the maximum allowable service pressure.
6.2 Bursting disc
6.2.1 The size, category and type of bursting discs shall be determined reasonably
by the designer of bursting disc safety devices, according to relevant requirements of
GB 567.2, the working conditions, structural features of sealing pressure equipment,
and taking comprehensive consideration of the test results of similar project.
6.2.2 If the bursting disc designed with imperfect ring, the length or diameter of
imperfect ring shall be able to ensure there is sufficient discharge capacity, and the
design of imperfect ring shall be able to ensure there is no chips after blasting of
bursting disc.
6.3 Bursting disc holder
6.3.1 Design, manufacture and application of bursting disc holders shall be matched
with bursting discs.
6.3.2 The strength design of bursting disc holder may adopt any one of the following
specified methods.
6.3.5 Connection requirements
