Fastening systems for high-speed railway -- Part 2: Type IV
fastening system
1 Scope
This Part specifies fastening system composition, assembly performance, technical
requirements for parts, inspection methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging,
as well as storage and transportation for type IV fastening system.
This Part is applicable to type IV fastening system for ballasted tracks of high-speed
railways.

There shall be no burrs and nicks in elastic strips that affect assembly. There shall be
no obvious creases and folds in the small rounded part of the tail.
5.1.4 Cracks
There shall be no cracks on the surface of the elastic strip.
5.1.5 Hardness
The hardness of the elastic strip shall be 44 HRC ~ 48 HRC.
5.1.6 Metallographic structure
The metallographic structure of the elastic strip shall be uniform tempered troostite and
tempered sorbite. A small amount of discontinuous ferrite is allowed in the core, and it
shall meet the requirements of TB/T 2478.
5.1.7 Decarburization layer
The total decarburization depth of the elastic strip shall not be greater than 0.20 mm.
5.1.8 Fastening pressure
The fastening pressure of the elastic strip shall not be less than 11.0 kN.
5.1.9 Residual deformation
After the elastic strip has passed the residual deformation test, the residual deformation
shall not be greater than 1.0 mm.
5.1.10 Fatigue performance
The elastic strip shall not be broken after 5×106 fatigue tests. The residual deformation
shall not be greater than 1.0 mm.
5.1.11 Anti-rust performance
The surface of the elastic strip shall be treated with antirust. After the anti-rust treatment,
the protection level of the elastic strip shall not be lower than level 5 after the 120h
neutral salt spray (NSS) test.
5.2 JA, JB elastic strips
5.2.1 Raw material
The raw material of the elastic strip is 60Si2MnA or Φ18 mm hot-rolled spring steel
with high performance. The performance of raw materials shall comply with the
provisions of GB/T 1222.
5.2.2 Type size
The type size of the elastic strips shall meet the design requirements.
5.2.3 Fastening pressure
The fastening pressure of elastic strips shall not be less than 8.0 kN.
5.2.4 Appearance, cracks, hardness, metallographic structure and total
decarburization
The appearance, cracks, hardness, metallographic structure and decarburization layer
of elastic strips shall meet the requirements of 5.1.3, 5.1.4, 5.1.5, 5.1.6 and 5.1.7
respectively.
5.3 Embedded iron seat
5.3.1 Raw material
The material of the embedded seat is QT 450-10. The properties of pig iron for ductile
iron shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 1412.
5.3.2 Type size
The type size of the embedded iron seat shall meet the design requirements.
5.3.3 Appearance
The appearance of the embedded iron seat shall comply with the provisions of GB/T
1348. The riser position shall be set at the buried end. Protrusion is not greater than 5
mm. The burr on the alignment line above the sleeper surface shall not be greater than
0.5 mm. The burrs on the parting line below the sleeper surface shall not be greater than
2 mm. All remaining burrs shall be removed.
5.3.4 Mechanical properties
The tensile strength and elongation after fracture of the embedded iron seat shall
comply with the provisions of GB/T 1348.
5.3.5 Metallographic structure
The spheroidization level of the embedded iron seat shall not be lower than level 3.
5.4 Insulated gauge block
5.4.1 Raw material
The raw material of insulating gauge blocks is glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66 or
other materials whose properties are not inferior. The physical and mechanical

6.1.3 Inspection of cracks

6.1.4 Hardness inspection
The hardness test of elastic strips shall be carried out according to GB/T 230.1. The
sampling site of the test piece is the middle part of the middle limb of the elastic strip
(cutting length is about 20 mm ~ 30 mm). Test four points within the range from the
center of the specimen section to 1/2 radius. The reading accuracy is not less than 0.5
HRC. Take the average of the last three points.
6.1.5 Inspection of metallographic structure
The metallographic structure test of elastic strips shall be carried out according to TB/T
2478. The sampling location of the test piece is the same as 6.1.4.
6.1.6 Inspection of decarburization layer
The decarburization layer test of elastic strips shall be carried out according to GB/T
224. The sampling location of the test piece is the same as 6.1.4.
6.1.7 Fastening pressure test
The fastening pressure test of elastic strips shall be carried out according to Annex A.
6.1.8 Residual deformation test
The residual deformation test of elastic strips shall be carried out according to Annex
B.
6.1.9 Fatigue performance test
The fatigue performance test of elastic strips shall be carried out according to Annex C.
6.1.10 Anti-rust performance test
The salt spray test (NSS test) and rating of elastic strips are carried out according to
GB/T 10125 and GB/T 6461 respectively.
6.2 Inspection of embedded iron seat
6.2.1 Inspection of type size
The type size of the embedded iron seat is checked with special measuring tools and
general measuring tools.
6.2.2 Appearance inspection
The appearance of the embedded iron seat is visually inspected or inspected by general
measuring tools.
6.2.3 Mechanical properties test
The mechanical performance test of the embedded iron seat is carried out according to
GB/T 1348 by using a single cast test rod.
6.2.4 Metallographic structure inspection
The metallographic structure specimens of the embedded iron seat are taken from the
body except the pouring riser. The test shall be carried out according to GB/T 9441.
6.3 Inspection of insulated gauge block
6.3.1 Inspection of type size
The type size of insulating gauge blocks is inspected with special measuring tools and
general measuring tools.
6.3.2 Appearance inspection
Visually inspect the appearance of insulating gauge blocks.
6.3.3 Drainage rate test
The drainage rate test is carried out according to the following steps:
a) After the water absorption modulation process, the standing time of the insulating
gauge blocks shall not be less than 12 h. Then weigh the initial mass and record
it as W1.
b) Place the insulating gauge blocks in a heating furnace at 120°C ± 3°C for 2 h
continuously. Take out and weigh the mass within 3 min. Record it as W2.
Calculate the drainage rate according to formula (1):

50% of original thickness. Keep it in an incubator at 100°C for 24 h. Then take it out
and cool it for 30 min at 23°C ± 2°C. Remove the clamp. The specimens are kept at
23°C ± 2°C for 24 h. Measure the thickness of the pad h1. Calculate the compression
permanent deformation C according to formula (3):

C - the compression permanent deformation, expressed as a percentage (%);
h0 - the thickness of the pad before the test, in millimeters (mm);
h1 - the thickness of the pad after the test, in millimeters (mm).
6.4.8 Oil resistance test
The oil resistance test of the rubber pad shall be carried out according to GB/T 1690.
Use type I specimens. Take 3 specimens for each pad. The test medium is 46# engine
oil that meets GB 443-1989. Test conditions: 23°C±2°C, full immersion for 24 h. Take
the median as the test result.
6.4.9 Working resistance test
The working resistance test of the rubber pad shall be carried out according to TB/T
2626.
6.4.10 Static stiffness test
The static stiffness test of the rubber pad shall be carried out according to Annex A of
TB/T 3395.1.
6.4.11 Dynamic and static stiffness ratio test
Take the rubber pad after the static stiffness test and carry out the dynamic stiffness test
according to Annex B of TB/T 3395.1. Calculate the dynamic and static stiffness ratio
after the test.
6.4.12 Fatigue performance test
The fatigue performance test of the rubber pad shall be carried out according to Annex
C of TB/T 3395.1.
6.4.13 Compression cold resistance coefficient test
The compression cold resistance coefficient test of the rubber pad shall be carried out
according to HG/T 3866. Test temperature is - 40°C. Compression rate is 20%. Cut out
f) Manufacturing batch number;
g) Date of manufacture.
9 Storage and transportation
9.1 Storage
9.1.1 Elastic strips and embedded iron seats shall be stored indoors. If they are stored
in the open air, they shall be covered with a roof or a tarpaulin. Prevent ground water
from soaking the package.
9.1.2 Insulating gauge blocks shall not be stored in the open air. They shall not be in the
same warehouse with chemicals such as acids and organic solvents. The temperature in
the warehouse does not exceed 60°C.
9.1.3 The rubber pads shall be stored in a clean, ventilated place, away from direct
sunlight, away from heat sources and chemical reagents. The storage period is one year.
During the storage period, the performance indicators of the rubber pads shall not be
lower than the provisions of this Standard.
9.2 Transportation
9.2.1 The components of fastening system shall not be violently bumped or thrown
during transportation.
9.2.2 The rubber pads shall not be in contact with chemicals harmful to rubber such as
oil and organic solvents during transportation. Avoid exposure to the sun.
10 Laying and maintenance
Refer to Annex D for laying and maintenance of fastening system.
A feeler gauge with a thickness of 0.1 mm.
A.3.3 Ruler
A ruler with an indication error of 0.5 mm.
A.3.4 Fastening pressure tester (equipment for reference method)
A tester capable of applying and measuring a load of 20 kN with an accuracy of 0.1 kN.
A.3.5 Dial gauge (equipment for reference method)
A dial gauge with an indication error of 0.01 mm.
A.3.6 Load device (equipment for alternative method)
A loading equipment that the static loading can reach 20 kN and the accuracy is level
1.
A.3.7 Force transducer (equipment for alternative method)
A force transducer whose accuracy is level 1.
A.3.8 Clamping tooling
A tool that grips the toe of the elastic strip and lifts it up.
A.4 Classification of test methods
The fastening pressure test can be carried out according to the reference method or
alternative method. Reference method is used in arbitration.
A.5 Test steps of reference method
A.5.1 Use special tools to install the tested elastic strip on the mounting base according
to the standard assembly state.
A.5.2 Place the tester so that the end of the tester with the threaded adjustment bracket
is supported on the upright of the mounting base.
A.5.3 Make the inner and outer hooks of the tester clamp the toe end of the elastic strip
(the outer surface of the hook is about 5 mm from the toe end of the elastic strip), as
shown in Figure A.2.

Test method for residual deformation of elastic strips
B.1 Symbols and definitions
h0 - the relative height of the tested elastic strip at the measurement point before the test,
in millimeters (mm);
h1 - the relative elevation of the tested elastic strip at the measurement point after the
test, in millimeters (mm);
Δh - the residual deformation of the tested elastic strip, in millimeters (mm).
B.2 Principle
The load is applied to the elastic strips through a testing machine. Determine the
residual deformation of the elastic strip.
B.3 Equipment
B.3.1 Testing machine
It is a testing machine with a loading rate of 0. 5kN/s ~1kN/s, a static loading of 20kN,
and an accuracy level of 1.
B.3.2 Force applying frame
It is a force applying frame that can simulate the installation position of elastic strips.
B.3.3 Loading block
It is a loading block where the slope of the contact surface with the elastic strip is 1:9.

C.2 Principle
Use a testing machine to apply periodic displacement to the elastic strip. Measure the
residual deformation of the elastic strip.
C.3 Equipment
C.3.1 Testing machine
It is a testing machine that can apply periodic displacement -1.0 mm ~ +0.5 mm at a
frequency of 4 Hz ~16 Hz.
C.3.2 Force applying frame
