1 Scope

This Standard specifies the general requirements, safety requirements, mechanical strength, appearance and dimension, environmental resistance requirements, assembly requirements, test methods, identification and mark, transportation, storage and package of battery enclosure in the traction battery system for electric vehicles. This Standard is applicable to the vehicle charging battery enclosure and swapping battery enclosure.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions and those ones stipulated in GB/T 19596 are applicable to this Standard. 3.1 Traction battery enclosure The assembly used for containing battery pack, battery management module, and corresponding auxiliary components, and including the mechanical connection, electrical connection, protection, and the like functions, it is referred to as battery enclosure

4 Requirements

4.1 General requirements 4.1.1 The battery enclosure shall have the convenience of maintenance. 4.1.2 Pollution control. in case the vehicle is collided, the battery is spontaneously combusted, and other unexpected circumstances, consider to prevent the fireworks, liquids and gases entering into the compartment structure or take protective measures. 4.1.6 The battery enclosure shall reserve sufficient space and solid foundation for the installation of fuse, power line, collection line, and various sensor components. 4.1.7 All connectors, terminals, electrical contacts without basic insulation shall be enhanced protection; after the jointing with connectors, terminals, and electrical contacts, which shall meet the Class-3 protection requirements stipulated in Table 1 of GB 4208-2008. 4.2 Appearance and dimension 4.2.1 The outer surface of the battery enclosure shall be free from obvious scratches, deformation and the like defects; the surface coating shall be uniform. 4.3 Mechanical strength 4.3.1 Vibration resistance strength After the test specified in Sub-clause 5.3.1, the battery enclosure shall have no mechanical damage, deformation, loose phenomenon on the fastening positions; the locking device shall not be damaged. 4.4 Safety requirements 4.4.1 After the tests specified in Sub-clause 5.4.1, and 5.4.2, the protection level of battery enclosure shall be no less than IP 55. 4.4.2 The protection against the personnel electric shock shall conform to the requirements of shielding/shell stipulated in GB/T 18384.3. 4.4.3 Special requirements of swapping traction battery enclosure shall include. 4.4.4 The flame retardant performance of battery enclosure made of non-metallic materials shall meet the requirements of Class-V-0 stipulated in Table 1 of GB/T 2408- 2008. 4.4.5 The battery enclosure shall have the function of releasing the pressure. 4.5 Environmental resistance requirements

5 Test Methods

5.1 Test conditions 5.1.1 Test environmental conditions Unless otherwise is specified, the test shall be performed in the normal environmental conditions. 5.1.2 Instrumentation The test instrument and equipment shall measure the uncertainty and stability meeting the requirements; the measurement of uncertainty shall be one magnitude better than the uncertainty of the measured index or the maximum allowable error is less than one third of the allowable error of the measured parameters. 5.2 Appearance and dimension inspection 5.3 Mechanical strength test 5.3.1 Vibration test Refer to the vehicle installation position of the test device, fix the battery enclosure onto the vibration test machine bench, the locking device is in the locking state. The vibration test shall be performed in the three directions, firstly from Axis-Z, secondly from Axis-Y, and finally from Axis-X. 5.4 Safety test 5.4.1 Dust proof test Perform the dust proof test on the battery enclosure as per the methods specified in Sub-clause 13.4 and 13.5 of GB 4208-2008; the external battery enclosure shall have other protective shell; both the battery enclosure and the protective shell shall be tested together. 5.5 Battery enclosure surface protection test 5.5.1 Metallic coating and conversion costing test The battery enclosure metallic coating and conversion coating test shall be performed as per the method stipulated in QC/T 625.

6 Nameplate and Mark

6.1 Nameplate 6.2 Mark 6.2.1 The battery enclosure shall be marked with polarity, and the polarity identification mark shall be close to the terminal post, and the flowing identification symbols shall be taken. 6.2.4 The warning mark, and prohibition, warning and instruction marks on the surface of the battery enclosure shall meet the requirements of GB 2894.

7 Requirements for Transportation, Storage and Package

7.1 The transportation, storage, and maintenance of battery enclosure shall meet the requirements of QC/T 238. 7.2 The battery enclosure shall be applicable to the car, train, ship and air transportation; and suitable for handling, loading and unloading. 7.3 The battery enclosure is suitable for placing and storing in the warehouse.

1 Scope

5 Test Methods
